This original piece by Maine-based mixed media artist and educator Mark Ford was presented to Dr. Ousmane Power-Greene, our inaugural Amy Richter Teaching Award recipient, a week ago today. Mark makes new objects from deconstructed books, work that questions systems of knowledge and invites us to rethink how we read. A fitting gift for a teacher who does the same with history!

Day 2 of the Clemente Annual Retreat!

We covered a lot of ground this weekend, reflecting together on where we’ve been and strategizing about where we might go. Together, we asked how we can build access, cultivate wisdom, navigate questions about AI, and plan for the future. A recurring theme from the weekend? We’re here to stay.

It was such a joy to spend time with friends old and new, celebrating the 2026 Public Humanities Prize and our extraordinary awardee, Reginald Dwayne Betts

Thank you to everyone who joined us, to the many people whose hard work brought the celebration together, and to the wonderful team at Trident Booksellers & Cafe for taking such great care of us. We’re so grateful to everyone who helped make this night so special.
