REVER Million Mile Challenge

From July 1st through September 13th, Ride for Kids Day, this community logged over 1.1 million miles in the REVER app — and turned them into research funding and real support for families facing a childhood brain tumor diagnosis.

No destination too unnecessary. No detour too stupid. No map left unbooped.

Sooooo… we’re doing this again. In 2022, I set off on what was supposed to be a one-and-done Coast to Coast motorcycle ride while raising money for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

Apparently I’m not very good at “one-and-done,” because here we are at Coast to Coast 5: The Final Chapter. Lol. This Friday, Fast Eddy and I hit the road for two weeks through 9 Northeast states, raising monies for the kiddos at the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

Those 9 states will also take me from 40 to 49 states ridden by motorcycle — every mainland state checked off, with only Hawaii left to boop.

Calling on our motorcycle community to help us honor one of our own.

On Sunday, September 20, the American Legion Riders of Post 116 will say goodbye to our Brother Eugene “Gene” Johnson. Gene was a Vietnam-era U.S. Air Force veteran, a proud member of American Legion Post 116, and an active member of our Riders family. He was larger than life, quick with a joke, and someone who truly valued the brotherhood he found among fellow veterans and Riders.

Gene’s memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM at Bryan Lee Funeral Home, Angier Chapel, 300 E. McIver St., Angier, NC.

Following the service, we will give Gene one final ride from the funeral home to American Legion Post 116, 6400 Johnson Pond Rd., Fuquay-Varina.

We would like to invite all motorcycle groups, clubs, independent riders, veterans, and friends of the riding community to join us for this final ride and help us give Gene the sendoff he deserves.

We expect to depart the funeral home at approximately 3:00 PM. Please arrive early enough to stage your motorcycles and be ready to ride.

You did not have to know Gene personally to ride with us. This is about what the motorcycle community does best: showing up for one another when it matters most.

When we arrive at Post 116, we will continue celebrating Gene’s life with a memorial gathering, sharing stories and remembering our Brother together.

Please share this with motorcycle groups and riders who may want to join us.

Major League Baseball and its Clubs will honor childhood cancer awareness across ballparks nationwide on Sunday, September 6th and throughout the month of September. Hosted during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, this MLB Together effort (MLBTogether.com) will support the cause with ceremonial and community-based activities, including outreach to local hospitals treating young patients. Congratulations Bill!

🎉 Congratulations to Bill Reda, winner of our RFK Photo Challenge! Bill and his family have supported the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and Ride for Kids since 1999, after his son Liam passed away from a brain tumor. In Liam's memory, Bill restored a 1969 chopper and rode it in Ride For Kids events for 15 years — a rolling tribute to his son and to every family walking this same difficult road.

Bill's decades of dedication reflect the heart of this community: showing up, year after year, for the families still fighting. Thank you, Bill, for standing by families like your own — and thank you to every RFK Photo Challenge participant and to the entire Ride For Kids community for riding toward a cure together. 💛🏍️
