Panda Packs

Panda Packs is a supplemental food program for students at risk of hunger. The children return their backpacks the following week and the process begins again.

We provide backpacks filled with shelf-stable food and drinks for eligible students to take home over weekends and extended holidays. Panda Packs is a supplemental food program designed to meet the nutritional needs of students whose families are suffering from economic hardship. Each week during the school year, volunteers pack backpacks with easy-to-prepare food items and drinks. The Panda Packs are then distributed to eligible children to take home over the weekend.

As we finish out November, we want to say a big THANK YOU to our community for helping us support more than 58 students and their families throughout this month including during Thanksgiving.
A special thank you to the following groups:
-PES families for supporting our Thanksgiving Food Drive.
-Jamie's Vision for providing Thanksgiving bags for 10 of our Panda families.
-St. Andrews Congregational Christian Church for their generous food donation.
-Powell Place for their continued monthly food donations.
-Our volunteers for all of their work.
Helping food insecure students takes a community effort, and we are so thankful for our community!

Happy Thanksgiving! We have so much to be thankful for. Thank you to everyone who donated to our Panda Pack Thanksgiving Food Drive and to Jamie's Vision! Because of your generosity, all of our Panda Pack families received a bag of non-perishable Thanksgiving foods along with a Food Lion gift card.
We are also thankful for the volunteers who helped pack the Thanksgiving bags as well as regular Panda Packs to make sure our kids have the food they need.

Thanksgiving Food Drive for PES Panda Packs is underway! Donations can be dropped off in the front office or sent in with your student(s). Please drop off donations by Wednesday, November 16th.

It takes a lot of community support to make sure our Pandas have the food they need each weekend. From CORA Food Pantry enabling a large and greatly needed bulk order and including a significant donation of food as well to a surprise donation from another food pantry with food to share to the monthly generosity of neighbors, we are all working together to feed our kids.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Thanksgiving food drive! Your generosity helped us fill Thanksgiving food bags for all of our Panda Packs families. We will even be able to send home holiday food bags at winter break too. Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who has already donated to the Thanksgiving Food Drive! We have gotten off to a good start, but we are still in need of more of all the items on our food drive list. We are working to support 55+ students and their families. Although kids are out of school until Monday, we will still have a donation bin available outside of the school's office if you want to swing by and drop food off over the weekend. This past week we distributed 55 Panda Packs to students in need. Thank you to the awesome volunteers making it happen!
With the increased demand for Panda Packs this year, we would be very thankful for any donations of kid-friendly, shelf-stable food. If you would like to donate, there is a donation box in the PES office.

We made the first Panda Pack delivery of the the 2021-22 school year this week. However, we were so busy packing and distributing the 51 bags that we forgot to get a picture. Instead, here is a picture of some of the donations that went into this week's bags thanks to wonderful neighbors in Powell Place who donate to Panda Packs each month.
