Summer is a time for swimming, bike rides, and outdoor adventures, but itโ€™s also one of the busiest seasons for emergency rooms treating injured children. Consumer Reports and child safety experts say a few simple precautions can help families enjoy a safer summer.

Learning happens everywhere โ€” even on a simple walk! ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Everyday moments can help children build important skills like critical
thinking, problem-solving, counting, and making predictions. Try this fun with your child and turn your next walk into a brain-building adventure.

What creative ways do you encourage learning during everyday activities? Share your ideas below ๐Ÿ‘‡

Hey, parents -- you already have a lot on your plate. Vroom is here to help you capitalize on the moments youโ€™re already spending together! Try this the next time youโ€™re out for a walk with your kiddo.

Pick a spot ahead of you and ask your child to predict how many steps it will take to get there. Then have them test this out. Encourage them to change the way they move, like running or jumping to the same spot. How do those changes affect the prediction?

Whatโ€™s the Brainy Background? ๐Ÿง  Your child is thinking like a scientist by making predictions and testing them against what actually happens. This game also develops the skill of critical thinking and helps them explore math ideas, like distance and counting. ๐Ÿ’กโœจ

Time is running out.

Child care in North Carolina is in crisis.

Between January and October 2025, our state lost 280 child care programs, making it even harder for families to find the care they need and for providers to keep their doors open.

One important solution is creating a statewide minimum subsidy reimbursement rate floor. Current reimbursement rates cover only about half the actual cost of providing care, forcing many programs to raise tuition, cut staff, or close.

Lawmakers are expected to finalize the state budget by June 15, and they need to hear directly from the families and providers affected by these challenges.

๐Ÿ“ Take two minutes to send a letter to your lawmakers -
we have made it easy for you.
