Scholarship applications are now open!

Know a student planning for college, technical school, or a return to the classroom? The Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin awards over $500,000 in scholarships every year, made possible by generous donors.

With a universal application, students are automatically matched with every scholarship they qualify for, from more than 60 opportunities. We’ve also added 10+ new scholarships this year.

Applications are open now through February 1. Starting early gives students time to write thoughtful essays and request recommendation letters without the last-minute rush.

“When does family caregiving stop being sustainable?”
“What is in the admission agreement families sign without reading?”
“When is home no longer the right answer?”

These are the questions your clients will face, and the questions our morning panel will answer at the Professional Advisor Symposium on October 27th.

Moderated by Mike Rhea, Executive Director of Aging & Disability Resource Center of Central Wisconsin, the panel brings together the people who see these decisions up close:

🔸Bill Panzigrau, a retired life insurance agent who has lived the realities of family caregiving
🔸Kacie Niemuth, Caregiver Support Coordinator at ADRC-CW
🔸Jenny Pagel, Resource Specialist and Medicaid lead worker at ADRC-CW

Real casework, practical checklists, and a local perspective on care options in North Central Wisconsin.

What happens when nearly 20 community foundations from 5 states gather in Wausau? Three days of big ideas, shared lessons, and an explosion of fall colors.

Earlier this month, we were proud to host Hell Yes!, a conference organized by a committee of regional foundations to dig into the topics that matter most to community foundations. Between sessions, guests experienced a taste of Wausau, from a stroll downtown and a tour of Community Partners Campus to a chairlift ride at Granite Peak for the best view of the season.

The timing posed an opportunity for an important conversation. As we continue our recovery from the April 17 tornado, and as our friends in the Fox Valley respond to the devastation in the Menasha area, foundations shared hard-won lessons in disaster response that will help all of our communities be better prepared.

A heartfelt thank you to our presenters:
Thaler Pekar, Thaler Pekar & Partners
Ralph Serpe, Adams County Community Foundation
Cindy Hoffman and Michelle Weber, Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region
Emily Dressel, St. Croix Valley Foundation

And thank you to every foundation that made the trip. It was our pleasure to welcome you to Wausau!

Who's joining us for the next one?

A huge thank you to the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin, Domtar, and an anonymous donor for helping Riverside Fire District purchase two new ventilators!
These new Ventis ventilators will replace our current units, which are approaching 10 years old. This equipment allows our crews to provide advanced respiratory support to critically ill and injured patients during transport and while responding to emergencies throughout our community.
Purchasing equipment like this is a significant investment, and support from community partners makes a real difference. Because of their generosity, our crews will have reliable, modern equipment available when our patients need it most.
Thank you to the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin, Domtar, and our anonymous donor for investing in Riverside Fire District and the communities we serve!

Community Foundation founder Tom Mack welcomed our team aboard his pontoon for one last soak of summer sun on Lake Wausau. Between the breeze and the views, Tom treated us to a little local history, sharing stories about the lake and the properties lining its shores.

It was the perfect send-off to the season before we dive into a busy fall of scholarships, grant reviews, and many events. Grateful for leaders like Tom who remind us that community is built on connection, on and off the water.

Thanks for having us, Captain Tom!

Please join us in welcoming Colton Van Ert to the Community Foundation team as our Marketing & Community Engagement Intern!

As our Marketing Director begins maternity leave, Colton will be stepping into a key role supporting community outreach, social media, storytelling, and engagement efforts across the Foundation.

A familiar face to the team, Colton participated in the Foundation’s Youth Philanthropy program over the past two years, where he developed a passion for community impact, leadership, and service. His creativity, energy, and firsthand connection to the Foundation’s mission make him a wonderful addition to our team. Throughout his internship, Colton will help share the stories, programs, and partnerships that continue to strengthen our community.

We are excited to welcome him to the team and look forward to the impact he will make over the coming months. Welcome, Colton!
