🚨 Unhealthy Air Quality Alert: Wildfire Smoke

Wildfire smoke is causing unhealthy air quality levels today. At this level, everyone can start to experience health effects.

What you can do:
👉 Limit outdoor activity, especially exercise.
👉 Keep windows and doors closed; run a HEPA or clean-air filter if available.
👉 Check on neighbors who may need extra support.
👉 Consider using an N95 respirator if you must be outside. N95s are available at the Public Health Vending Machines at Community Partners Campus and Healthfirst in Wausau.

Your lungs will thank you—take it easy today.

***EDIT: Bridge Street Mission day shelter will remain open until 8pm tonight, 6/29/26. It will resume regular hours of operation on 6/30/26 and close at 4pm***

⚠️Help us make sure everyone in our community stays cool.

📍Day shelters are available today and tomorrow at Bridge Street Mission (8am-4pm), Open Door (5am-12pm), and Marathon County Public Libraries during regular hours of operation.

If you plan to seek shelter overnight tonight, check in as usual at Bridge Street Mission by 7pm.

UPDATE: GOOD SHEPHERD SHELTER IS CLOSED SUNDAY, MARCH 15. IF YOU NEED SAFE HOUSING, PLEASE UTILIZE WAUSAU MARATHON COUNTY SHELTER AT FIRST UNITED CHURCH.

Due to inclement weather and staff/volunteer shortages (safety first), CPC will be closed on Monday, March 16.

Good Shepherd Shelter will be open 7p-8a Sunday, March 15 & Monday, March 16 for unhoused guests.

Wausau Marathon County Shelter will be open 5p - 8a Sunday, March 15 & Monday, March 16 for unhoused guests.

Open Door will be open 5a - 12p & Bridge Street Mission will be open 8a - 5p on Monday, March 16.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we all navigate this storm.
