Let's start with the basics - good food, safe resting space, care for your body (physical & mental), and people who make you feel seen. CPC and our partners are here! We are a shared space with 7 nonprofits providing basic need services at no cost.

Need food & infant/toddler basic needs? The Neighbors' Place
Healthcare? Wausau Free Clinic Sponsored by The First Presbyterian Church
Shelter? The Good Shepherd Shelter (opening for the season, November 1, 2025)
Housing supports? North Central Community Action Program
In addition to these resources, CPC also has Wausau Area Mobile Meals, Blessings in a Backpack, Marathon County Human Services (rotation of services), monthly Judicare Legal Aid clinics, weekly Northcentral Technical College HSED & GED Classes, and social connection.

Community Partners Campus had a helper this week!
The Public Health Vending Machine (PHVM) is stocked and accessible 24/7.
Items available to the public:

-Naloxone (Narcan) to reverse opioid overdoses
-Fentanyl test strips to detect the presence of fentanyl
-Midsize backpacks
-Hygiene kits
-Condoms
-Drug Deactivation System Kits

Public health vending machines are an evidence-based harm reduction tool that can help decrease drug overdoses by increasing access to life-saving resources. When combined with other interventions (like education, treatment access, and outreach), they support broader public health and safety goals.

Our team keeps growing! Leila is joining us for the summer and will be getting the full intern experience by learning from all of our partners. She hopes to put her bilingual Spanish skills to use, as well as explore different leadership styles and gain insight into the inner workings of nonprofit organizations. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome her to campus!

Fun fact: Leila and Tara met in 2022 as mentor and mentee through the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin's Youth Philanthropy Program. They’ve stayed connected and are excited to grow in philanthropy together once again!

Volunteer Appreciation Week seems like the perfect time to brag about the world’s greatest volunteer. Ashley joined us in January and has been an instrumental part of our team! Ashley has been such a big part of our days at the CPC, from painting to cleaning and helping guests meet goals, her abilities have no bounds. Our guests are lucky to have you, and so are we. Thank you, Ash!

We are excited to offer this free screening of Americans With No Address in partnership with Bridge Street Mission and Wausau Police Department.

Homelessness has now expanded not only in urban areas but also in rural and suburban areas. As of 2023, in the United States alone, over 2.8 million people experienced homelessness, more than half of them were children. Trauma, mental health, substance abuse, lack of affordable housing, and economics are all factors for the drastic increase in homelessness in our country and our community.
