The Salvation Army of Wausau exists to meet the needs of those in our community. We are a church that offers Bible studies, youth programs, a food pantry, free meals, a homeless shelter, rent and utility assistance, prescription assistance, and other seasonal services to those in need.

🎁 Christmas Assistance Registration is Now Open!
🎄 Only 73 Days Until Christmas! 🎄

The Salvation Army of Wausau and Toy for Tots of Marathon County are partnering once again to assist families in need with gifts for kids ages 17 years and under.

How to Register:
• Must be a Marathon County Resident
• Must be a parent or have Guardianship papers for the child you are registering.
• Families can only register with one organization or group to receive Christmas Assistance.
• Must be within Federal 150% Poverty Guidelines.

Registration days will be as follows.

October 26th, 2026 10:00am– 1:00pm
October 28th, 2026 9:00am– 1:00pm
November 2nd, 2026 9:00am– 1:00pm
November 5th, 2026 9:00am-1:00pm
November 9th, 2026 9:00am– 1:00pm
November 12th, 2026 3:00pm– 7:00pm

What is needed to register

1. IDs for everyone in the household. Adults must have a photo ID or Passport. Children can have Social Security Cards, Birth Certificates, passports, or medical ID cards.
2. One month's proof of Income for all income in the household. Food Share letter will be accepted if everyone is listed.
3. Proof of Address: current mail with name and address; ID will not be accepted as proof of address.

The Salvation Army of Wausau would like to announce our new Corps Officers as of Sept 1, 2026

Captains Derek & Heather Jung
Derek earned his Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Seoul Theological Seminary in South Korea and served in pastoral ministry for 10 years. Heather studied fashion design in South Korea.
Together, they served as missionaries in China for about 5 years and experienced Christian community living in the UK and the US for around 5 years before discovering The Salvation Army in the United States.
After graduating from The Salvation Army College for Officer Training (CFOT) in the USA Central Territory, they served at the Maplewood Corps in St. Louis, MO, and the Lakewood Temple in Maplewood, MN. Following 3 years of overseas service, they were appointed to the Wausau Corps.

Today 9/11/2026. We hold near and dear to our hearts as the world changed 25 years ago.
Today our new Corps Officers Captains Derek and Heather Jung along with staff memeber Colleen and retired Officer Major Carol Lemirand attended the 9/11 memorial held at Williw Springs Garden. By VFW post 10203 at the veterans memorial there. The Salvation Army was boots on ground during this tragic event for months after the attack. We hold this day , the families and emergency crews close to our hearts.
Along with community memebers, VFW and SAFER fire department we remember and will never forget.

Please take a moment of prayer today for all the lives lost and still loosing from this horrific day 25 year ago.

Come visit us in the parking lot of Thrive Church till 2:30. We are frying up and handing out free fresh hot donuts in honor of Donut Day this Friday. Get a little history and enjoy the sweet treat the soldiers of WWI enjoyed as they fought the war with love and compassion from the Salvation Army.
