⚡️Crime of the Week⚡️

The Marathon County Crime Stoppers are looking for your help with identifying a motorcycle and its operator.

On July 4th, 2026 following the fireworks display in the City of Mosinee, a City of Mosinee Police Officer was directing traffic when a yellow motorcycle, similar to a Honda CBR900 Firebird, was observed splitting traffic then failed to follow the Officer’s signal to stop at a cross walk.

The motorcycle fled from the area after being signaled by the officer to stop. It appears there may have been a child riding on the motorcycle as well.

The driving behavior of the motorcyclist endangered pedestrians as they moved from the park toward where they had parked their vehicles and also endanger other drivers.

IMPAIRED DRIVING HAPPENS AT ALL HOURS 🍻

Yesterday at 6:00 AM, as officers met for their daily briefing, they were dispatched to an iPhone crash detection alert on Stevens Drive near Wausau West High School. On arrival officers found a vehicle had crashed into a tree. The driver was found to be intoxicated, with a cup of beer sitting in the center console. The driver, who was also found to be uninsured, was subsequently arrested for OWI 1st Offense.

We are thankful no one was injured, but we cannot stress enough. If you drink, there are much better options available to get you to/from your desired location. Nothing is worth losing your car, losing your money, or losing a life.

The Marathon County Crime Stoppers are looking for your help with solving a theft from a farm in the Town of Frankfort.

Between 10:00 PM on July 7th and 8:00 AM on July 8th an unknown subject(s) entered a farm located in the 223000 block of State Highway 97 and stole 20 head of cattle valued at $50,000.00.

A heavy-duty truck with dually back wheels pulling a trailer entered the property from the south off of Blueberry Road and fled the area on Blueberry Road as well. The trailer was backed into the barn cattle were taken from.

The cattle were described as black and Holstein both males and females were taken. Each weighed between 800lbs and 1000lbs. Each animal had a white ear tag with numbers ranging between 170 and 260.

🚨 Unhealthy Air Quality Alert: Wildfire Smoke

Wildfire smoke is causing unhealthy air quality levels today. At this level, everyone can start to experience health effects.

What you can do:
👉 Limit outdoor activity, especially exercise.
👉 Keep windows and doors closed; run a HEPA or clean-air filter if available.
👉 Check on neighbors who may need extra support.
👉 Consider using an N95 respirator if you must be outside. N95s are available at the Public Health Vending Machines at Community Partners Campus and Healthfirst in Wausau.

The Wausau Police Department continues to respond to questions & complaints about "e-motos". Reckless operation of these devices in the city is occurring at a more frequent rate. Thankfully, there has not yet been a serious injury or incident but there have been numerous close calls. Let's not wait for a tragedy to happen before changing behavior.

To be clear, it is NOT legal to operate e-motos on city streets/roadways, bike lanes, sidewalks, parks, or multi-use paths & trails. They may only be operated on private property or DNR-approved lands.

The Marathon County Crime Stoppers is looking for your help with solving a theft from a residence in the Village of Kronenwetter.

Between 05/01/2026 and 05/08/2026 an unknown subject(s) entered a residence in the 3100 block of Martin Road in the Village of Kronenwetter. The unknown person(s) stole multiple fi****ms from the residence valued at around $4,000.00.


The missing fi****ms are described as follows:

But in all seriousness, please remember to zipper merge when there’s a lane closure. Use BOTH lanes all the way up until the merge point, and then simply take turns merging.
