A local celebration of the Marine Corps Birthday The United States Marine Corps will be celebrating it's 242nd birthday in November, 2017.

Active duty and honorably discharged Marines, the Corpsmen who served with us, and invited guests/spouses are welcomed to join us in the celebration on SATURDAY, 11 NOVEMBER 2017. DANCING, FREE B**R (while it lasts), CASH BAR, DOOR PRIZES, AND RAFFLE ITEMS! We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization comprised of volunteers who love our Corps and enjoy the chance to bring Marines of all generations together for fellowship.

A Century of Service: Honoring Marine Veteran Donald James Sleeter

At 100 years old, Donald James Sleeter has a lifetime of stories and service worth celebrating.

Brittani Kasper and Tom Rottscheit had the pleasure of visiting with Don recently, taking time to hear about his life, his military service, and his experiences as a United States Marine during World War II.

Originally from Marshfield, Wisconsin, Don joined the Marine Corps in 1943 and served until 1946, earning the rank of corporal. During his service, he was part of the 3rd Marine Division and served in the Pacific, including Guam and Iwo Jima. He was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart.

After returning home, Don continued a life of service to his community, including a career with the Marshfield Police Department. Today, he resides in Wisconsin Rapids, where friends, family, and fellow veterans have the opportunity to celebrate his remarkable life and legacy.

We are grateful for the opportunity to sit down with Don, hear his stories, and thank him for his service and sacrifices.

🌟Don will also be attending the Marine Corps Ball next week, where we look forward to recognizing him and celebrating his service alongside fellow Marines.❤️💛

At 100 years young, Don's story is a reminder of the courage, dedication, and sacrifices made by the Greatest Generation. Thank you for your service, Corporal Sleeter!

🇺🇸 We’re proud to see two of our committee members in the Newspaper! 🇺🇸

Tom Rottscheit and Gunny Bob Hood was recently featured in the Wausau Times Buyers’ Guide while attending the Veterans Weekly Cup of Coffee at Denny’s in Rothschild, WI. ☕️

Veterans meet every Wednesday at 10:00 AM at Denny’s for coffee, conversation, and fellowship. If you’re a veteran and haven’t joined us yet, we’d love to see you there! Come check it out and meet some great people.

It’s always great to see a smiling committee members in the paper! 🇺🇸❤️
