Oregon is staring down a ballot initiative being sold with friendly language—but the real-world impacts don’t stay on paper.
IP28 would criminalize intentional harm to an “animal,” and in practice that ripples through everyday Oregon life:
- cattle ranching + local meat
- farmers markets and vendors
- restaurants that source locally
- fishing + commercial fishing
- pest control and public health
- science-based wildlife management
