Last Saturday, we had the honor of celebrating playwright/screenwriter and longtime GAIA supporter Winnie Holzman for her extraordinary philanthropic contributions to our work in Malawi.

We surpassed our fundraising goal to cover operational costs for a mobile health clinic for another year!

Today, on International Day of the Midwife, we’re sharing powerful stories from Zambia where GAIA nurse-midwife scholars and fellows are helping save lives every day. This World Malaria Day, we celebrate a dramatic decline in malaria cases at GAIA Mobile Health Clinics and throughout Malawi, resulting in almost half as many deaths from the disease last year. The new vaccine, administered to young children, whose rollout GAIA board chair Jim Cashel witnessed earlier this year, gets some hard-earned credit for this incredible progress.

GAIA stands alongside partners worldwide, driven to end malaria—because now we can, and now we must.
