On the positive side, California becomes the 18th state to finally ban child marriage. Thank you to all the activists who worked to make this happen including our coalition partner Unchained At Last. Thank you to Governor Gavin Newsom for signing up. This is truly epic!

BREAKING: WE DID IT

WE BANNED CHILD MARRIAGE IN CALIFORNIA.

After our epic NINE-YEAR battle, we got the bill passed in California.

When the law takes effect, California will become the 18th state where
we have helped make the marriage age:

18. No exceptions.

It’s a bad day for child rapists — and a HUGELY victorious day for
California girls.

We fought for this. Survivors fought for this. Advocates and allies
across California and the country fought for this.

And today, we won.
