Big news: Our new Outfront Media digital billboard campaign went live this week! 🎉

Women still earn 82 cents on the dollar, and at this pace, the gender pay gap isn’t projected to close until 2155. We’re not waiting that long, and Outfront Media is helping us spread the word.

Featuring Juthaporn, our Client Success Ambassador, this billboard puts that hard truth where it can’t be missed, right along heavily traveled commuter routes.

You can spot it in two locations:
📍 Oakland: Northbound I-880 near Market Street, West Oakland
📍 Berkeley: East side of I-80, about 1,500 feet north of University Avenue

It’ll be running for 8 weeks, timed right through Women’s Equality Day next week.

A huge thank you to Outfront Media for making these billboards possible with their generous donation.

If you spot it on your commute, snap a photo and tag us, we’d love to see it in the wild!

“Confidence is the best accessory.”
— Kimberly Charles, Founder of Charles Communications Associates; former Dress for Success San Francisco/San Jose Board Member

In honor of our 20th anniversary, we’re spotlighting Kimberly Charles, (Kimberly Noelle Charles) whose connection to Dress for Success began over a decade ago.

Kimberly first discovered Dress for Success San Francisco through her longtime friend Andrew Freeman, a founding board member and the organization’s 2022 Success Honoree. After attending her first event, the mission immediately resonated.

She went on to serve on the board from 2014 to 2016, bringing her marketing strategies and communications expertise while helping strengthen community engagement and support for the organization’s work empowering women.

One of her proudest moments was co-chairing the Success: You Wear It Well Fashion Gala with Andrew Freeman and Deborah Harrison in 2016. The event brought together leaders across business, government, and fashion, including Instagram COO Marne Levine, Treasurer of the United States Rosie Rios, and Carolyn Wente, CEO of Wente Vineyards, alongside a runway show featuring designer Jake Wall.

For Kimberly, hearing directly from the women served by Dress for Success was what made the mission so powerful.

“When you get a really moving client to speak, there’s no better way to demonstrate the effect and power of this organization,” she says.

Years later, Kimberly remains a dedicated supporter of Dress for Success and its work helping women build careers, confidence, and economic mobility.

Her message still resonates:

“Access is the only barrier. Success belongs to everyone and everyone deserves it.”

San Francisco is recovering. Downtown is filling back up. The headlines are optimistic.

But recovery has a habit of leaving people behind. This year, on our 20th anniversary, we’re raising funds through our 20Forward campaign to help make sure it doesn’t.

Before Dress for Success, Ayanna faced housing instability and a minimum-wage job with no clear way out.

Not for lack of drive. For lack of access.

Nearly seven years later, she works full-time, has been promoted, is raising two sons, and is graduating with her BA in Psychology in 2026.

That doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when someone hands a woman a door instead of another closed one.

For 20 years, that’s been our job. And we’re asking you to help us keep doing it.

Here’s exactly what your gift builds:

$50 → a Job Search Workshop seat
$150 → an interview-ready outfit
$500 → a month of coaching for 10+ women

San Francisco is having its comeback moment. Will you help her have hers too?

Every gift, big or small, makes a real difference.

In July, Aon Risk Services West organized a multi-location donation drive on our behalf, and what followed was a whole lot of heart (and eight full boxes of career clothing).

The partnership began when Asif, an Aon colleague, learned about the mission of Dress for Success through conversations with a former Dress for Success San Francisco/San Jose Board member, Marc Crayton.

Inspired by the organization’s work and its impact on women striving for economic mobility, Asif championed Dress for Success San Francisco as the nonprofit partner for Aon’s Launch Program.

Aon’s Launch Program is an early careers initiative that supports new colleagues as they transition into the corporate world. As part of their final project, each Launch group partners with a nonprofit and designs a project to support their mission.

Aon’s Launch Program members organized a clothing and accessories drive across their San Francisco, Los Angeles, Irvine, and Seattle offices — resulting in approximately eight full boxes donated to Dress for Success San Francisco, plus $3,000 in support. They also added an Amazon wish list to widen participation.

Over two weeks, dozens of Aon colleagues donated gently used professional clothing and accessories. The team then spent an additional day sorting and preparing everything for delivery at their San Francisco office before dropping the boxes off to us.

When companies invest their time, talent, and resources in their communities, they create opportunities that extend far beyond the workplace.

We’re grateful to the whole Aon team for their generosity. It’s partnerships like this, built on time, energy, and care as much as donations, that help us reach even more Bay Area women. Thank you, Aon! 💐
