The DOST-PTRI joins family, friends, and the textile community in mourning the passing of Anthony Cruz Legarda, Filipino-American fashion designer, textile technologist, and longtime advocate of Philippine Tropical Fabrics (PTF).
Anthony's decades-long partnership with the Institute helped bring Philippine natural dyes and indigenous weaves onto the world stage from his collaboration with PTRI's Natural Dyes Program for the 2007 Ms. Earth collection, to his continued advocacy for piña and neo-ethnic textiles, and his participation in showcasing Philippine textile innovation abroad, including at the KatHABI exhibit in New York.
His passion for Filipino craftsmanship and his dedication to honoring indigenous weaving traditions leave a lasting mark on the Philippine textile industry.
