The Movement Cooperative powers organizing through shared governance, shared investment, and long‑term stewardship of movement tech.

“By pooling resources, we make it easier for more organizations to securely maintain their data at a fraction of the cost,” says CEO Julia Barnes.

His new book “From Presence to Power” offers essential lessons about power – how to understand it, gain it, and use it for progress.

“There are forces working hard to make sure that movements for justice never make the transition from presence to power. They think they will lose if we win. The challenge for us now and in the years ahead is to become more powerful than those forces, not just more popular,” Robinson writes.

To turn dreams into reality, young people need space to explore their talents, build community, and discover their voices.

Miss Jill Scott knows this personally, and that’s what inspired her to create the Jill Scott Arts and Community Fund.

Rooted in the Grammy-winner’s hometown of Philadelphia, the Fund’s next chapter will create opportunities – from STEM and arts education to summer camps, scholarships, and mentorship for young people and families.

“Sometimes all young people need is a little push, some light to get them to the other side of a thing. And this is what the Fund provides,” Scott says.

Real-life experience and shared decision‑making build stronger, more equitable climate solutions.

As part of Linguistic Waterways, residents of Bushwick, Brooklyn, are developing climate solutions based on their own lived experiences.

These residents have navigated flooding, heat, and other infrastructure challenges, and their voices will help build a living, community-informed understanding of climate risk that can influence real-world solutions.

By supporting worker-owned cooperatives, community-owned enterprises, and affordable housing, Seed Commons has deployed $121 million in small business credit to places traditional banks rarely do.

Each effort exemplifies how mission-related investing earns a return while building the durable, community-owned infrastructure rural America needs to thrive.

Hundreds of anti-LGBTQ+ bills. Rollbacks of federal protections. Coordinated campaigns targeting trans youth, healthcare, and schools. The attacks are relentless, but organizers are fighting back — and winning.

Yet a new Funders for LGBTQ Issues report shows just 16 cents of every $100 awarded by U.S. foundations in 2024 went to LGBTQ communities. Philanthropy has both the opportunity and the responsibility to do far more.
