Piedmont Parlor #120 Meeting & Tamale Dinner Thursday, December 10th, 2026

Social Gathering at 5PM

Dinner at 6:15PM

COST – $20.00

This traditional and annual event will be held downstairs in the Canteen of the San Leandro Veteran’s Building located at 1105 Bancroft Avenue in San Leandro. If more than 75 RSVP, the event will be in the auditorium. We invite you to an evening of good food, great friends, celebrating the history of the State of California, and a chance to visit with brother and sister members and their families at this long-standing NSGW Piedmont Parlor #120 tradition.

We will be serving pork and chicken tamales, beans, rice, tortillas, salad, salsa, guacamole, chips, and there will be liquid refreshments (some of the adult variety) as well. This event is sponsored by NSGW #120 for its members, members’ families, and cherished NSGW guests.

RSVP’s are mandatory to our Tamale Feed Chairman Paul Berlin by December 6th, 2025, so we know how much food to order. We will have .50 cent pull tabs for fun. B**r and w**e $2.00 and sodas $1.00. Water is free. Cocktails $3.00. December 10 5:00 pm

Happy Birthday October 10th– Gavin Christopher Newsom was born in San Francisco on October 10, 1967, to Tessa Thomas Menzies and William Alfred Newsom III. Newsom received a partial baseball scholarship from Santa Clara University, where he graduated in 1989 with a degree in political science.

After graduating from Santa Clara, Newsom worked briefly in sales and real estate before starting a retail w**e shop in 1992 in San Francisco. The business eventually grew into the PlumpJack Group, which includes restaurants, luxury resorts and w**eries throughout California.

Newsom got involved in politics in 1995 as a volunteer for Willie Brown’s campaign for mayor of San Francisco. Mayor Brown appointed Newsom first to a vacancy on the Parking and Traffic Commission and in 1997, to a vacant seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Newsom was subsequently elected and re-elected to the board before successfully running for mayor of San Francisco in 2003. In 2004, Newsom made national headlines when he challenged California’s ban on same-sex marriage by directing the San Francisco city-county clerk to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

While still mayor of San Francisco, Newsom was elected the 49th lieutenant governor of California in 2010, and re-elected in 2014. On November 6, 2018, Newsom was elected the 40th governor of California.

Santa Clara United Methodist Church Dedication NSGW and NDGW invite you to join them for a Plaque Dedication at the Santa Clara United Methodist Church on October 11th at 11:00am. It will be the Church’s 180th Celebration.

Church Services start at 10:00am and the dedication will follow.

There will be a taco bar served after the dedication at the Inman Hall and Picnic Area October 11 10:00 am
