Did you know our nutritional needs change as we age? 🍎🥦

As we get older, our bodies may need fewer calories but more essential nutrients, like protein, fiber, and vitamins, to maintain strength, energy, and overall health.

For seniors, good nutrition plays an important role in staying active, managing health conditions, and maintaining independence.

This WorldFoodDay, we’re highlighting the importance of access to nutritious meals and healthy aging. Because eating well matters at every age! 💚

Today is World Mental Health Day.

At Meals on Wheels San Diego County, we know that well-being goes beyond physical health. For many seniors, a friendly face, a meaningful conversation, and the comfort of knowing someone cares can make all the difference.

That’s why we’re proud to deliver More Than a Meal. Every visit is an opportunity to build connection, ease loneliness, and remind our clients that they are not alone.

This World Mental Health Day, let’s remember that even the smallest acts of kindness can have a lasting impact. 💙

We’re ready to Dine for a Difference! 🍽️

We’re so grateful to Duke’s La Jolla and Jake’s Del Mar for generously selecting Meals on Wheels San Diego County for their Dining for a Difference fundraiser!

From September 25–28, dine at Duke’s La Jolla or Jake’s Del Mar and make a donation to Meals on Wheels San Diego County. For every dollar you donate, you’ll receive the same amount off your food and beverage bill, up to $50!

Each restaurant has set a goal of raising $10,000 to help support the seniors and disabled veterans we serve throughout San Diego County. 💙

Our clients, volunteers, and staff are ready — we hope you’ll join us and Dine for a Difference!

*Donations must be made in person at the participating restaurant. Tax and gratuity not included.

Our amazing volunteers recently came together to pack emergency bags for Meals on Wheels San Diego County clients, filled with essential food and supplies to help our senior neighbors feel prepared and supported in the event of an emergency.

We’re grateful to our volunteers for lending a helping hand and to SDG&E for helping make these emergency bags possible.

Together, we’re finding more ways to care for and support seniors throughout San Diego County.

Behind the scenes of Groceries on the Go!

It starts with selecting grocery items at the San Diego Food Bank , then our volunteers get to work packing each bag for our clients.

Groceries on the Go helps bring nutritious grocery staples directly to seniors who need a little extra support at home—another way we’re delivering more than a meal. 💙
