The San Diego Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA San Diego) announced today that Ryan Maxson has been selected as its next Executive Director, effective January 1, 2027. Maxson, who currently serves as the Chapter's Assistant Executive Director, will succeed longtime Executive Director Andy Berg.
"Ryan brings extensive leadership experience, strong relationships throughout the region, and a clear vision for the future of our Chapter," said Craig Earley, President of the NECA San Diego Board of Directors. "The Board is confident in his ability to build upon our successes and expand opportunities for our members from throughout the region."
Maxson brings more than two decades of experience in government affairs, public policy, and strategic advocacy, with a distinguished career spanning work in trade associations, U.S. Congress, the corporate sector, and higher education.
Prior to joining NECA San Diego, Maxson served as the senior government affairs representative for California State University San Marcos and Vice President of Government and Public Affairs for the Greater San Diego Association of REALTORS®, one of the region's largest trade associations. He began his career in Washington, D.C. working for Congressman David Dreier, former Chairman of the powerful House Rules Committee. Maxson earned both a bachelor's degree and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Pepperdine University.
Since joining NECA San Diego in 2023, Maxson has helped advance the Chapter's government affairs and economic development initiatives, strengthen relationships with elected officials and regional business leaders, and advocate for policies supporting infrastructure investment, workforce development, and the electrical construction industry.
"I am honored by the confidence the Board has placed in me and welcome this opportunity to lead NECA San Diego," said Maxson. "Our Chapter has a proud history of leading on government advocacy and delivering innovative education and training programs that ensure our contractor members remain at the forefront of the electrical construction industry. I look forward to building upon that legacy, strengthening our partnerships, and expanding opportunities for our contractors throughout San Diego and Imperial Counties."
Maxson succeeds Andy Berg, whose leadership has helped establish NECA San Diego as a respected and influential industry organization.
"We are grateful for Andy's dedicated service and the strong foundation he has established for our Chapter," Earley added. "His contributions have positioned NECA San Diego for continued success, and we look forward to building upon that legacy."
As part of the leadership transition, NECA San Diego has also initiated a search for a Director of Government Affairs and Economic Development to support the Chapter's ongoing advocacy efforts, strategic partnerships, and regional economic development initiatives.
