Meet Tara 👋, a former oncology patient turned volunteer.
Tara was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2014, right before starting 4th grade. During treatment at Rady Children's, Tara also benefitted from the care of child life specialists & playroom volunteers, who made her time in the hospital as enjoyable as possible. 🫧
Tara says, "I am incredibly grateful for the care I received at Rady Children’s & volunteering seemed like a natural way to say 'thanks.'" Now volunteering in the hematology/oncology floor playroom, she hopes to brighten patients' days & make their inpatient stays more tolerable.
Inspired by the compassionate care she received from nurses at Rady Children's, Tara is pursuing a major in Applied Health Science & works as a Certified Nursing Assistant in addition to her volunteer work. 💙
This & beyond, we're proud to spotlight Rady Children's volunteers, who help us provide the highest possible quality of service to our patients, their families & our staff. 🫶
