Yesterday, our very own Christina Pineda (LMFT, Program Manager for Courage to Call) joined K**I to share valuable insight on helping military families navigate the stress of deployments.
When a service member gets deployed, the transition, unexpected delays, and extensions impact the entire family. For spouses, it can mean taking on additional responsibilities and parenting on their own. Children may experience anxiety, changes in behavior or difficulty understanding the separation.
Christina also discussed the challenges that can come with returning home. While homecoming is an exciting moment, reintegration takes time. Families may need to adjust to new routines, changing roles and different expectations after months apart.
Open communication, patience, maintaining routines and staying connected to support systems can make these transitions easier. Most importantly, military families do not have to navigate these challenges alone.
Courage to Call is here to support service members, Veterans and their families with connection, resources and support when they need it most.
Thank you to K**I for helping bring attention to the realities military families face and to Christina for sharing practical guidance on building stronger, more resilient families.
