🚀 Exciting News! We’re thrilled to introduce Lindsay Smith as our new Executive Director at Girls on the Run San Diego! 🏃‍♀️

Lindsay is a dedicated runner, seasoned nonprofit professional, and proud mother, passionate about the transformative power of positive programs in young lives.

Fun facts: Lindsay loves to cook, sew, run (most days), read, play with her awesome 2.5-year-old daughter, and enjoy life to the fullest. She adores her 10-year-old husky, Ziggy, and 12-year-old Swedish Vallhund, Layla. 🐾

Dear GOTRSD Community,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to share some important news with you. After much reflection and consideration, I have decided to step down from my role as Executive Director of Girls on the Run San Diego, effective June 14, 2024.

Serving as the Executive Director of GOTRSD has been incredibly rewarding, professionally and personally. Together, we have accomplished significant milestones, from introducing a new curriculum to celebrating our participants at this spring's incredible 5K, all driven by our shared commitment to inspire girls to activate their limitless potential. I am deeply grateful for your unwavering support, dedication, and passion for our cause.

This decision was not made lightly, and comes after a great deal of personal reflection. I am confident in the incredible team at GOTRSD and their ability to continue our important work without interruption. Our Board of Directors is initiating a comprehensive search for a new Executive Director, which you can learn more about at the link below, and I will work closely with them to ensure a smooth and seamless transition. In the coming weeks, I will remain fully engaged in my role to ensure our ongoing projects and initiatives continue to progress as planned.

Thank you for the trust you have placed in me and for the incredible support you have shown to GOTRSD. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together (stay tuned for more about this season's accomplishments in upcoming newsletters!) and look forward to seeing the continued success of GOTRSD in the years to come.

Join our Board of Directors! Being part of the GOTRSD board is a great opportunity to use your professional skills to give back, join a community of engaged volunteers and leaders, and make a difference for participants throughout San Diego County.

All are welcome to apply–we strive to be an inclusive organization that represents the communities we serve. To ensure diversity of perspectives and approaches, BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals, people 18 and older, and residents of all gender identities from all parts of San Diego County are encouraged to apply.

Our board is currently seeking leaders with one or more of the following attributes:
Deep connections in communities of color currently unserved or underserved by GOTRSD
Current and former education professionals, especially administrators, social workers/counselors, or district leaders
Natural relationship and community builders
Individuals with professional experience in legal, DEI, and/or HR disciplines
Parents or guardians of past or current GOTR participants
Experience serving on a nonprofit board or as a long-term volunteer with a nonprofit organization in a leadership capacity
Individuals who are bilingual or multilingual
