👾🧟‍♂️ Spooky season is the perfect time for Monster-Making Fun at Autism Tree! 🎨💙

Our boys had a MONSTER of a time at today’s Monster-Making Workshop! 👹 From creative designs to one-of-a-kind creations, our participants let their imaginations run wild while connecting, creating, and making memories together!

A HUGE thank-you to the National League of Young Men and our amazing Teen Volunteers in Action (TVIA) SD4 volunteers for showing up, supporting our boys, and helping make today’s workshop a success! 💙🙌 Your time and enthusiasm make a meaningful difference in our Autism Tree community.

Last night’s volunteer orientation was such a special one! 💙

We were so excited to welcome friends from the UC San Diego of Project Sunshine, Medicine Without Borders at SDSU, TVIA SD4, members from the Francis Parker baseball team, and so many new volunteers and families who just discovered Autism Tree and wanted to learn more about how they can get involved! 🧩✨

It’s always incredible to see people from different schools, teams, organizations, and communities come together with one shared goal: creating more inclusive and meaningful experiences for neurodiverse individuals and their families.

Thank you to everyone who showed up last night, asked questions, shared their passion, and is ready to jump in and make an impact with us. We’re so excited to have you as part of the Autism Tree family! 💙

Autism Tree was honored to be invited to the NCL San Diego Philanthropy Faire, where we had the opportunity to connect with mothers and daughters and share more about the work we do in our community.

Our Volunteer & Community Engagement Manager, Kyera Franklin, led a volunteer orientation and helped educate attendees on what it means to be part of underrepresented and underserved communities and why creating spaces of inclusion, understanding, and support matters.

A heartfelt thank you to Kaye Kuglar, NCL San Diego Liaison, and Melissa Reinker, VP of Philanthropy, along with the NCL San Diego Philanthropy Board, for inviting Autism Tree to speak and share our mission. We’re grateful for the opportunity to build connections and inspire the next generation of community leaders.

And a special thank you to Kaya and Nathalia for being there onsite, supporting the event, and helping spread the word about Autism Tree! 💙🌳

Together, we can continue to connect, educate, empower, and create a more inclusive community for all.

🎃🍿 Kicking off October with a little Halloween fun at our Spectrum Socials: Movie Night!

Our teens and young adults came together last night to watch Halloweentown High, enjoy some yummy snacks, and spend time together as we kicked off spooky season! 👻🎬

A big thank you to Francis Parker students Dahlia, Scarlett, Ethan, and Clare for leading last night’s Movie Night! We’re also grateful to our friends from TVIA SD4, along with our amazing Autism Tree volunteers Hannah, Ada, and Ava, for helping make tonight’s event such a fun and welcoming evening. 💙

What a special day for our USD Football Mentor Program! Our Toreros came away with a big win today, and our mentor families showed up in a big way to cheer them on. 💙

Despite the heat, our families packed the stands, supported their buddies from kickoff to the final whistle, and stayed to celebrate and connect with them after the game. 🏈🙌

For our new families, today was a wonderful opportunity to meet their buddies and begin building those meaningful relationships. And for our returning families, it was another chance to strengthen the friendships and connections that make this program so special. ❤️

The scoreboard may tell us who won the game, but the real victory was seeing these relationships continue to grow, one game, one conversation, and one shared experience at a time.

A special thank you to TVIA SD4, Kaya, and Nathalia for volunteering their time and helping make today so special for our families! We’re so grateful for the support you continue to show our community. 💙

🌎🧠 DISTINGUISHED SPEAKER ANNOUNCEMENT!

Autism Tree is honored to welcome Dr. Giacomo Vivanti as a Distinguished Speaker at our 2027 Global Neurodiversity Conference on Friday, April 9, 2027!

Autism Tree has valued our relationship with Dr. Vivanti since 2018, and we are thrilled to welcome him back into our global conference community in his new role as Joan and Jack Craig Chair in Autism Research and Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Dr. Vivanti is an internationally recognized autism researcher whose work focuses on early identification and intervention and translating research into meaningful, real-world outcomes for autistic children and their families.

His latest research is a powerful example. Dr. Vivanti recently led the large-scale study, “Proportion and Profile of Autistic Children Not Acquiring Spoken Language Despite Receiving Evidence-Based Early Interventions,” examining spoken-language development among autistic children who received evidence-based early intervention: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41264359/

The research brought together collaborators from UC Davis and the TEACCH Autism Program at UNC Chapel Hill, including our 2027 Conference Moderator and current INSAR President, Dr. Brian Boyd. The study is the first large-scale investigation to examine the proportion and characteristics of autistic children who do not acquire spoken language despite receiving evidence-based early interventions.

Dr. Vivanti’s work asks an important question at the heart of autism research: How can what we learn through science translate into better, more individualized support for children and families?

We are honored to bring his expertise to a conference dedicated to creating a heart connection between families with neurodiverse/autistic loved ones and the global neuroscience community. 💙🌎

🌟 Celebrating Connection & Inclusion with UC Davis Redwood SEED Scholars!

The Autism Tree team had a wonderful meeting with Beth Foraker, Director of the UC Davis Redwood SEED (Supported Education to Elevate Diversity) Scholars Program! ✨

We were joined by Autism Tree Board Member Laura Bonafede Odom alongside her daughters Jessica and Taylor. Together, we spent time reflecting on the inspiring insights Beth shared with us last week and learning more about how the Redwood SEED Scholars program provides an inclusive, four-year residential college experience for students with intellectual disabilities.

✨ A day full of music, movement, creativity, and community! 💜

Move, Create and Connect with La Costa Canyon High School was such a fun afternoon! Our North County Adapted Dance Director, Emily Giensburg, and her National Honor Society group brought the energy by leading our families through fun crafts and dance routines inspired by The Greatest Showman. 🎶🎨💃🏽

We loved welcoming so many new families while also seeing so many familiar faces from our Autism Tree community. From creating together to dancing together, it was a day filled with connection, laughter, and plenty of fun! 🧩💜

A huge thank you to Emily and the La Costa Canyon National Honor Society for creating such a welcoming and inclusive experience for our families! ✨
