A Decade of Giving Back 📚❤️

For nearly 10 years, Perry Mitchell has been a dedicated part of the Books For Africa family—volunteering twice a week, generously supporting our mission as a donor and event sponsor, and championing access to education for women and girls across Africa.

This Wednesday, August 19, Perry once again be put his commitment into action at our warehouse as he helped load the Zimbabwe–Phumulani 2026 container, proudly sponsored by Perry Mitchell himself. 📚

Perry will also be sharing his passion for education as a featured speaker at our 2026 Annual Atlanta Luncheon coming up in September, inspiring supporters with his commitment to creating opportunities for women and girls through education.

We are incredibly grateful for Perry’s time, generosity, leadership, and unwavering belief in the power of books to change lives. Thank you, Perry, for helping us end the book famine in Africa—one container at a time!

Georgia State University Law School students recently volunteered at the Books For Africa warehouse in Georgia, helping sort, pack, and prepare books for shipment to communities across Africa. Their time and energy are helping make quality reading and educational resources accessible to students around the world. We are grateful to these GSU students for putting service into action and helping Books For Africa end the book famine in Africa—one book at a time!

Books can change lives—and now they're changing lives in Madagascar! 📚
Books For Africa recently shipped two containers totaling 83,620 books to the Skyline Public Library Project in Madagascar, where they will help establish community libraries and expand access to education for thousands of children and families.
This incredible partnership was made possible with financial support from Better World Trust, while Lights For Literacy provided solar lamps so students can continue reading and learning long after sunset.

Education changes lives—and partnerships make that impact even greater.

We're proud to see Books For Africa Board Member Jote Taddese and University of St. Thomas professor Dr. Manjeet Rege recognized for their shared commitment to expanding educational opportunity through books, technology, and innovation.

Together, they're helping build stronger learning communities by connecting students in Africa with the resources they need to succeed. From advancing AI education to leading literacy initiatives that have already delivered more than 110,000 books to Ethiopia through the Partnership for Literacy project, their work is creating lasting change.
