We're hiring! Make an impact in your community this tax season.

Prepare + Prosper is looking for part-time, seasonal staff to support our free tax preparation clinics across the Twin Cities during the 2027 tax season (January–April).

We're looking for:
- Seasonal Tax Site Managers
- Bilingual Seasonal Site Managers (English and Spanish, Somali, or Hmong)

On Tuesday, Oct. 6, members of the Prepare + Prosper team attended VITACon, hosted by Prosperity Now at the University of Minnesota.

The conference brought together organizations and leaders from across the country to share ideas, experiences, and resources as we all prepare for the 2027 tax season.

Our team had the opportunity to learn how VITA programs of different sizes operate, meet new people, make valuable connections, and explore new developments in children's savings and tax services.

A special shoutout to the P+P volunteers who stepped up to help make the event a success!

Prepare + Prosper’s Executive Director, Suyapa Miranda, MAPL, and Cultural Innovation + Tax and Financial Services Director, Alejandro Valenzuela Jr, attended the Ninth International Center for Culturally Responsive Evaluation and Assessment (CREA) Conference in Chicago, Illinois, this week!

The event provided a valuable opportunity to connect with others, exchange ideas, and learn from people and organizations committed to creating change in their communities.

Suyapa and Alejandro, were joined by Dr. Dharma Cortes, Senior Scientist and Assistant Professor at Health Equity Research Lab/Harvard Medical School, and Dr. Lisa Aponte-Soto, PhD, MHA, President/CEO at Tanoma Consulting.

Together, they led the breakout session, "From Resistance to Resurgence: Harnessing the Collective Power of Family-Serving Organizations”, presenting on how nonprofits can demonstrate organizational resilience and courage during times of hardship, including during Operation Metro Surge.

In addition to our main tax clinic in Northeast Minneapolis, we operate several free tax clinic sites throughout the Twin Cities metro during tax season. Prepare + Prosper volunteers can be stationed at a site that works best for them!

Whether you volunteer as a Tax Preparer or Customer Support Volunteer, you’ll help people in your community file their taxes, access important tax credits, and become more financially empowered.�

No previous tax experience is required, and volunteers receive training and support along the way. Bilingual and multilingual volunteers are especially encouraged to learn more!

Last week, we gathered for a “Cheers to This Chapter” get-together. After weeks of packing, sorting, donating, hauling, and moving, it was a chance to celebrate making it through moving day and into our new space in Northeast Minneapolis. We had fun playing trivia and spending time together as a team. Moving day is behind us, but next up is unpacking!

📍 Our new main location is 2125 E Hennepin Ave, Lower Level, Minneapolis, MN 55413.

We are still closed to the public while we get settled. In-person tax services are closed until January 2027.

In the meantime, our team is continuing to provide free financial services and moving full speed ahead as we prepare for the next tax season.

We’re grateful for everyone who helped us get here, and we’re excited for this next chapter.

For the first time in its 39-year history, the Hispanic Heritage Awards, traditionally held in Washington, D.C., were held in Minneapolis, honoring our city and the courage and resilience of our community during Operation Metro Surge.

Our Executive Director, Suyapa Miranda; Director of Cultural Innovation, Alejandro Valenzuela Jr.; and Board Vice Chair, Aide Salgado, were proud to attend this historic event, thanks to an invitation from Old National Bank.

During the ceremony, a special award was presented to the people of Minneapolis in recognition of the strength and solidarity our community has shown.

Are you looking for an opportunity to give back, make connections, and build new professional skills? Prepare + Prosper is currently recruiting volunteer tax preparers for tax season 2027! In this role, you’ll provide an important service to low- and moderate-income communities in the Twin Cities by preparing their tax returns and helping them get a handle on their finances.

No experience is necessary to join! All P+P volunteers receive comprehensive training, so you’ll have everything you need to start strong and make a positive impact in your community. We have several partner sites throughout the metro to choose from, making it easy to volunteer close to home. Bilingual skills are especially appreciated!
