From birth to raising children to caring for aging parents, local hospitals are there for patients through every stage of life.

Melanie Knakk-Guyer is one of many community members in Madelia who was born at the local hospital, later brought her own children there for care, and now relies on Madelia Health to support her aging parents. But that continuity of care is at risk as providers like Madelia Health face growing financial pressures.

The Minnesota Hospital Association recently announced its 2026 spring award winners – and two of our Lakeview colleagues made the list!

Alisha Matusiak, RN, and Dan Gunderson, PharmD received a Good Catch Award for their quick thinking and teamwork. Their action led to the discovery of a larger issue and nationwide recall, helping to protect patients far beyond our walls.

We’re so proud to work alongside colleagues who speak up, take action and put patient safety first.
