is supporting a multi-state lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Education regarding restrictive federal student loan limits for advanced degrees. This policy is expected to reduce access to critical funding and exacerbate provider shortages. For more details, visit NASW News Releases at socialworkers.org. “We proudly stand with this coalition of states to ensure that dedicated future clinical social workers can afford the education required to provide essential, life-saving mental health care across the nation,” NASW CEO Anthony Estreet, PhD, MBA, LCSW-C, said.

Pride Month is a celebration—but it is also a call to action.

This June, the NASW Minnesota and North Dakota Chapters stand with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and reaffirm our commitment to dignity, inclusion, self-determination, and respect for all.

At a time when many 2SLGBTQIA+ people are facing increased discrimination, harmful rhetoric, and threats to their rights, social workers have a critical role to play. Social workers have a responsibility to promote policies, laws, and programs that affirm, support, and value LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, families, and communities.

Pride Month is also an opportunity for us to strengthen our practice. As the needs of our communities evolve, so must our knowledge and skills. Whether you're working in schools, healthcare, behavioral health, community organizations, or policy, continued learning helps us provide affirming, culturally responsive services that support 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and families.

Visit NASW's Resources for supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, families, relationships, and communities: https://www.socialworkers.org/Practice/LGBTQIA2S

This month, we encourage social workers to celebrate Pride, uplift 2SLGBTQIA+ voices, defend human rights, and invest in the learning needed to better serve our communities.

Because social justice isn't seasonal—and neither is our commitment to it.

⚠️ Important update for Minnesota Medicaid providers:

CMS has warned it could withhold up to $2 billion from Minnesota’s Medicaid program if required provider revalidations are not completed — putting care for 1.3 million Minnesotans at risk.

As part of Minnesota Revalidate 2026, providers delivering services identified as “high risk” under the state’s Medicaid audit initiative must successfully complete revalidation by May 31, 2026.

If you provide Medicaid services, make sure you understand whether this requirement applies to you and complete any necessary steps as soon as possible.

đź”— More information:
Providers' Roundtable:
The providers' roundtable calls take place every Thursday from 10:00 to 10:45 AM, and a number of providers have indicated that this has been a great source of ongoing information, as well as an opportunity to raise concerns and troubleshoot problems. Attendance at these meetings is by invitation only, so anyone who is not currently on the calendar invite but is interested in joining the calls should email [email protected] to get added.
