Nearly 200 neighbors from across the city sat at The Longest Table on Raspberry Island during a truly "Golden Hour." We shared amazing food from catering, an opening poem with and a spontaneous troubadour performance over dessert while kids playing touch football on the lawn. Old friends met for the first time and connections were made on the banks of the extraordinary Mississippi River. Thank you Knight Foundation for your generous hosting of the event, Saint Paul Parks and Recreation for bringing the tables, chairs and sound system, Mayor Kaohly Her for hosting a table, thank you Kurt and Edwige Moses for these stunning photographs.

What a great afternoon cutting the ribbon at the new Baker Park Field with Mayor Kaohly Her Andy Rodriguez Councilmember Rebecca Noecker, St. Paul City Council Ward 2 Minnesota Vikings West Side Community Organization (WSCO) and so many coaches, community leaders and youth.

Places like this are more than a place for play. We grown up learning negotiation, social skills, resilience, and teamwork in parks like this - especially with phenomenal coaches and mentors. And when you think of the Olympians and and Hall of Famers to come out of Saint Paul parks, you realize every field and court is a platform for the next generation of greatness.

Join us tomorrow, Sept. 25 at 4pm for the Baker Park Athletic Fields Grand Opening celebration! Be among the first to try out the new multi-use artificial turf field! Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders will be at the event to welcome attendees and assist with the ribbon cutting.

With funding from the City's Common Cent 1% Sales Tax and an NFL grant, the completed project work includes a new synthetic turf field, field lighting, tree plantings, and improved walkways. A combined restroom and storage facility will be constructed, with specific timeline to be announced.

🛝 Help us build a brand-new playground at Newell Park! 🔨💪

There’s something pretty amazing about looking at an empty space in the morning and seeing a new playground standing there by the end of the day.

On Thursday, October 22, we’re joining Saint Paul Parks and Recreation KABOOM! , Ecolab Kindling Impact Foundation Hamline Midway Coalition and an incredible crew of community volunteers to build the new playground at Newell Park, 900 Fairview Ave. N.

And we need helping hands!

No special construction skills are required—there will be jobs for volunteers of all skill and ability levels. Come ready to work, meet some great people and help create a place where neighborhood kids can play for years to come.

📅 Build Week: October 20–22 (15-30 volunteers needed on Oct 20 & 21)
⭐ Big Build Day: Thursday, October 22

We are so honored to have the amazing Robyn Wefel on the Rice Park Maintenance Endowment Committee assuring the beauty of one of our legacy parks from 1849. It's great to see her work at The Saint Paul Hotel garden recognized. She's got both sides of Market Street covered in downtown!

And while fall is coming this week, you can still enjoy an "Endless Summer in Rice Park" cocktail at the Saint Paul Hotel Grill and bar. it's a delicious way to raise a glass to our hard-working park volunteers!
