The Minnesota Herpetological Society (MHS) is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization open to anyone with an interest in amphibians and reptiles. The purpose of the MHS is to:

-Further the education of the membership and the general public in the care and captive propagation of reptiles and amphibians.
-Educate the members and the general public on the ecological role of reptiles and amphibians.
-Promote the study and conservation of reptiles and amphibians.

In August, MHS education volunteers brought herps to a "Reading to Reptiles" event at a local school. Kids could pick out books to read to a variety of attentive reptiles. It was a lot of fun for everyone! Thank you to Ellyn, Tryn, Stefanie, Renee, Lavania, and Lindsey for bringing your animals and encouraging kids to read!

Our last day at the State Fair was more comfortable than the first (lower temps, less humidity), but just as busy. Thank you to everyone who stopped by! We loved sharing our reptiles with you. Thank you to the many people who came to see us and our reptiles on a steamy day at the Fair! It was crowded and hot, but we LOVED meeting you--and so did our snakes, tortoises and lizards! We'll be back outside the DNR building next Sunday from 11-3. Stop by!

Touch and see lots of beautiful reptiles at the Minnesota State Fair! Come to the Garden Stage on the west side of the DNR building on Sunday, August 30 or Sunday, September 6 from 11 am to 3 pm. Our friendly education volunteers and their amazing animals will be there, ready to delight you.
