Print gives architects extraordinary freedom—blending a structure into its surroundings, creating a visual landmark, or carrying a brand across a facade. But color doesn't stay put on its own. UV, pigment stability, and substrate interaction all determine how long that design intent survives outdoors.

At Advanced Textiles Expo, Steven Huisman of ColorArmor Systems explains the science behind color durability in language designers and engineers can both use—then shows what to specify for results that last. Tuesday at noon.

Water repellency testing sounds like a technical detail—until a client calls about a failing installation. Then it's everything. Robert Hinsch of TVF has spent four decades helping fabricators get it right, and his demonstration at Advanced Textiles Expo shows exactly what proper testing looks like.

He'll cover the difference between repellency and resistance, demonstrate testing methods you can run without lab equipment, and share techniques for reviving performance in aging fabrics. Catch it Tuesday, 10:30 a.m.

The best ideas in textiles often start in a university lab. The challenge is getting them to market. That's where ecosystems like NC State's FlexFactory and the University of Southampton's SUSTAIN program come in—and at Advanced Textiles Expo, the people who run them will compare notes on what's working.

TEN years ago on the SAME DAY, Janelle Buerkley and Megan Gorman began at ATA, and the world was never the same.

At work these ladies, respectively, manage event education/speakers/sessions, coordinate weibinar/podcast content, manage advisory board relationships and keep our members happy, with so much in between. Meanwhile they've formed a close bond, attending each others' weddings and seeing each others' milestones in real time over the years.

"It's more like celebrating a friendship than a work anniversary," Janelle said. "And that makes me happy cry."
