Our vision is an improvement in children’s quality of life through the house that they live and spend time in. It is more than just a roof.

ROOFtoLIVE started 8 years ago as a family project that grew into a registered non-profit corporation based in Manta, Ecuador and registered in the state of Vermont, USA. Every year, in August, we select the family or families (depending on the amount of funds available) and build a pre-built concrete house for them. Together with all family members, we paint the house, clean the yard and bring th

e house up to ready for living. In the communities that we have worked, housing could be strengthened as a productive asset by creating an enabling environment. After their homes are ready, we work with the family providing them advise and ideas of home-based income-generating activities they can become involved in. ROOFtoLIVE works with the poorest of Ecuadorian families to build or rebuild houses making them strong, safe, culturally appropriate, and affordable to maintain. These homes become the foundation for a much better quality of life.

🏠 A New Beginning for the Montalvan Reyes Family 🏠

Thanks to your incredible generosity, the Montalvan Reyes family received the keys to their new home—a safe and dignified space where they can grow and thrive.

The family of five has faced numerous challenges. Their middle child, Alexander, developed mental delays after suffering from meningitis as an infant, while their youngest, Kevin, was born with a cleft palate. Both boys require speech therapy, which, at $5 per session, is often beyond the family’s financial reach, given the father’s modest monthly income of $450. Each day, he departs for work at 4:30 AM to ensure he arrives on time by 7 AM. Previously, their insecure living conditions left the mother and children vulnerable during his long absences.

Now, with a secure home, the Montalvan Reyes family can focus on their well-being and future. This transformation was made possible by your support. From all of us at Roof to Live, thank you for making a tangible difference in their lives.

We’re Back — And More Committed Than Ever!

We want to take a moment to be honest with you.

Over the past several months, our updates have been few and far between. The truth is, we don’t have a paid staff — every dollar we raise goes directly toward building homes for people in need. And while we’ve continued working quietly behind the scenes, life caught up with many of our volunteers. Between kids, jobs, and even the lasting impact of COVID, we dropped the ball on sharing our progress and keeping our amazing supporters in the loop.

This isn’t an excuse — because the reality is, for those who don’t have a safe place to call home, life doesn’t pause.

We’re still here. Still building. Still dreaming big. And now… we’re back, and stronger than ever.

In the coming days, we’ll share the small but meaningful steps we’ve taken during this time. And we’ll be putting our hearts into raising the funds needed to give a family, a solid place to call home.
