For our Friends in the garden - our garden co-founder and wonderful human, Zander Shaw, passed away recently and unexpectedly. We will miss his constant presence in the rows of veggies and his expansive plans for this project, among so many good works he was involved in. Please take a loving moment to remember him.

Our community is gathering together to support Amy after the sudden and tragic loss of Zander. They contributed so much of their time, energy and hearts to our community over the years. Please participate generously to help Amy over the coming months.

Rockland friends – volunteers are needed now (Friday night) and other support through the weekend: emergency hurricane shelter
The Flanagan Center will be available tonight, starting at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023 for emergency shelter from the incoming storm. For people seeking shelter, please contact Kali Ausplund at 691-5300.
Volunteer shifts are still available. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Amy Files at 542-4858.
We are seeking unused donations of the following items to be dropped off:
· Bottled water
· Blankets and pillows – new, unused please
· Power strips and extension cords
· Battery-operated lanterns or flashlights

Thank you to everyone who came to the pop-up plant sale today! We appreciate your support, and especially folks who gave extra towards keeping our community garden thriving.

Some early harvest treats! We thinned the carrots and the babies are so sweet! Kale and chard are garden staples all season long .

What a great way to celebrate this special park! Thanks to all who planned and attended!

What a gorgeous day for Rockland Rotary and the City of Rockland's partnership in hosting a Community Picnic at the MacDougal Park. There was a special ribbon cutting to commemorate the grand opening of the completed walkway around the park, which includes wheelchair accessible picnic tables put together and donated by Rockland Rotary, a community food garden, and a beautiful flower garden. Rockland Rotary provided grilled hotdogs, chips, and lemonade free to the public. Rotary also provided information about their plans for an Inclusive Playground project. The children had fun playing Jenga, Bean Bag Toss, Nerf dart game, and flying kites in the park. We ended this fabulous day with Tug-of-War between Rockland Rotary and the City of Rockland. Thank you to all the volunteers who made this special event a huge success. It was a fun day that was a win, win for all.
