Sign up at the link below to welcome visitors to Rockland! It's a great way to help make cruise ship days fun and manageable for businesses, residents, and visitors.

Volunteers Needed: Help Welcome Cruise Ship Visitors to Rockland!

PortShare Promise is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help welcome cruise ship visitors to Rockland beginning Sunday, September 6.

This community partnership is working to make cruise days better for residents, local businesses, visitors, and communities throughout the Midcoast. This season, four different cruise ships will make stops in Rockland, including one larger ship that will visit our harbor four times during September and October.

For each arrival, we'll have a Welcome & Information Tent where volunteers will:

✔️ Greet cruise ship visitors
✔️ Answer questions about Rockland and the Midcoast
✔️ Offer suggestions for local dining and shopping
✔️ Share ideas for things to see and do
✔️ Help visitors have a great experience while they're here

No experience is needed! All volunteers will receive training, including a Volunteer Guide and in-person training sessions.

Interested in helping out? We'd love to have you join us! Send us a message or reply to this post, and we'll get back to you with more information.

See the full cruise ship schedule and find out when volunteers are needed: https://rocklandmaine.gov/537/Cruise-Ships

Help us give cruise visitors a warm Rockland welcome!

We are excited to welcome residents, guests, and visitors back to Rockland for the 79th Annual Maine Lobster Festival, taking place July 29 through August 2 at City of Rockland, Maine Harbor Park!

To help make sure everyone enjoys a safe and smooth festival week, please review the following details regarding parking, shuttles, and Saturday parade road closures.

To avoid downtown traffic and limited paid parking near the harbor, festival-goers are strongly encouraged to utilize the FREE Satellite Parking & Shuttle Service:

📍 Satellite Parking Lots:
South Elementary School (30 Broadway, Rockland)

Oceanside High School (400 Broadway, Rockland)

🚌 Shuttle Schedule: Free school bus shuttles run every 15 to 20 minutes directly to and from the festival main gates.

♿ ADA / Accessible Parking: Limited designated handicap spaces are available along Myrtle Street adjacent to the Main Gate. Golf cart assistance is also available on festival grounds for those needing mobility support.

🚘 SATURDAY (AUG. 1) "THE BIG PARADE" & ROAD CLOSURES:

The Big Parade begins at 10:00 AM (ROADS CLOSE AT 9:30 AM) on Saturday, August 1. Please plan ahead for major downtown traffic adjustments:

🛑 Downtown Road Closures: All main roads into and out of downtown Rockland (including Main Street / Route 1) will be CLOSED to vehicle traffic from 9:30 AM until approximately 12:30 PM.

⛴️ Maine State Ferry Terminal: If traveling to or from the ferry terminal on Saturday morning, you must be parked at or inside the terminal no later than 9:30 AM.

🔄 Through-Traffic Detour: Drivers traveling between Thomaston and Rockport should use Old County Road or Route 90 to bypass downtown completely.

🛡️ SAFETY & GENERAL REMINDERS:

Pedestrians: Expect heavy foot traffic around Harbor Park, Buoy Park, and Main Street. Please slow down, expect delays, and drive with extra caution.

Alcohol: Open containers are not allowed on the Festival Grounds or Main Street.
