Located in Midcoast Maine, we offer programs in boatbuilding, adult and youth sailing classes.

The Apprenticeshop, founded in 1972 by Lance Lee, is about inspiring personal growth through craftsmanship, seamanship, and community. The hard skills we teach are a vehicle for exploring personal potential, whether you are 2-year apprentice, 12-week participant, youth or adult sailor. This Friday. Enjoy an evening sail on Rockland harbor with us!

Thanks to our friends at First National Bank,
you can get out in a traditional wooden boat for a sunset sail on Rockland Harbor, for FREE.

1ST & 3RD FRIDAYS through SEPTEMBER 18

Registration is closed, but spectators are invited to board spectator shuttle boat at Apprenticeshop dock. Racing will take place from approx 11:00am - 2:00pm. Lifejackets are required and provided. First come first serve.

ABOUT THE EVENT:
For 23 years, this regatta, named after the famous Rockland-built clipper ship “Red Jacket” has
helped youth develop racing skills. We foster a strong focus on fun and sportsmanship, and
have been a great venue for newer sailors just getting into racing. This year will feature one
rowing/sailing race close to our docks in Carney 8 prams, followed by round the buoy fleet
racing in Optimist dinghies and 420 sloops out in Rockland Harbor. All sailboats will be provided
by the Apprenticeshop.

Session 3: Oars, Spars & Sails
August 10th-14th, 9am-3pm
Topics & Skills: sailmaking, laying out patterns, stitching, gluing up oars & spars, shaping with handtools, leatherwork & finishing

Session 4: Hardware & Finishwork
August 24th - 28th, 9am-3pm
Topics & Skills: patterns, bronze casting, installing hardware, paint prep/application techniques

Spend a week (or more) in a real working boat shop having fun and making friends!

Open to ages 13-17. Local student discount rate and tuition assistance are available. Link in bio to register and learn more.
