Meet Harry - Social Media Manager

Harry is our go-to social media manager and an incredible part of the Surfrider Maine team. As a busy student constantly juggling classes, projects, and everyday life, he still always makes time to support our mission and help share it with the community. 🩵

From creating and editing videos to managing our social media channels, Harry brings creativity, energy, and dedication to everything he does. He’s also a familiar face at beach cleanups, showing that he’s just as committed in the field as he is behind the screen. 🎥 🎞️

Harry’s love for filmmaking, beaches, surfing, writing, and dogs shines through in the content he creates and the passion he brings to protecting our coastlines. His drive, talent, and positive attitude help keep our message moving forward and inspire others to get involved. 🏄🏼‍♂️✍🏻🐶

🚮 A month from now is July 5th - known as the dirtiest beach day of the year. After the fireworks fade and the crowds head home, our beaches are often left covered in trash, plastics, and debris that threaten marine life and pollute our coastline.

This year, help us make a difference. Join Surfrider Maine for a beach cleanup at Old Orchard Beach and be part of protecting the ocean we all love. Every bottle, wrapper, and piece of litter removed makes an impact. 🌊

Whether you’re a longtime volunteer or joining your first cleanup, we’d love to have you there. Bring friends, family, and your passion for clean beaches. Together, we can turn one of the dirtiest beach days of the year into one of the most impactful.

What could be more happy than hands in the sand while preserving our favorite coastal beaches here in Maine?! 🌱🐚. Shout out to Surfrider volunteers and the Climate Action Program for (literally) digging in to another shoreline restoration effort. 💙🌊

Join a Maine Surfrider restoration project this summer or let us know if you’d like to chat more about potential restoration at a shoreline near you. Email [email protected] or check out our link in bio events page.

Introducing Pam - Beach Guardian Program Co-Chair 🔱

Pam has been picking up trash and debris from beaches for as long as she can remember. The ocean has always felt like home to her, and she believes caring for it is no different than caring for the people and pets you love. Just as she would pick up food wrappers or trash from her living room floor to keep her family safe, she feels the same responsibility to remove litter from the beach to protect her ocean family. 🐠🐚🌱🪸

Her love for the ocean extends far beyond Maine’s coastline. She enjoys snorkeling in the Caribbean, searching for seaglass along the shore, and advocating for reef-safe sunscreens that help protect marine ecosystems. When she’s not near the water, you can often find her knitting, dancing, taking long walks, reading Shakespeare, or spending time with her cats and seven wonderful grandchildren. 🤿🧶📖🐈

Pam brings warmth, compassion, and a lifelong dedication to protecting the places and wildlife she loves, helping ensure cleaner, healthier beaches for generations to come. 💙

Summer is here, and Surfrider Maine is in full swing ☀️🌊

June and July are all about showing up for our coast—whether that’s joining a beach cleanup, connecting at community events, or simply spending time appreciating the places we’re working to protect. With more people enjoying Maine’s beaches this time of year, our collective impact matters more than ever.

We’re especially excited to celebrate World Ocean Day 🌎—a global reminder of why we do this work and how important it is to protect our ocean and coastal ecosystems.

And after a busy holiday weekend, we’ll be out in full force for our annual Dirtiest Beach Day of the Year on July 5th—when beaches often need the most care. It’s one of the most impactful (and eye-opening) cleanups of the season, and a powerful way to give back. 🎇🧨

Whether you’re a longtime volunteer or joining us for the first time, there’s a place for you. Bring your friends, your family, or just yourself—every effort makes a difference.

Introducing Harri - Treasurer

Meet Harri, our dedicated Treasurer and the steady hand helping keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes at Surfrider Maine. 💵 🪙

From managing donations and supporting charity events to keeping merchandise sales on track, Harri plays a vital role in making sure our chapter can continue to grow and make an impact. His attention to detail and commitment help turn big ideas into real, actionable work. 📈

But Harri doesn’t just keep things organized—he’s also out there in the field, regularly volunteering at beach cleanups and showing up to support chapter events and meetings. He truly embodies what it means to lead by example.

When he’s off the clock, Harri stays just as active. You’ll find him surfing, running, fishing, hiking, or out mushroom hunting. He’s also a fan of music (ask him about a “Meat Tornado” sometime) and good food. 🎸🎶🏄🏼‍♂️🎣🏃🏻‍♂️🍄‍🟫

Harri brings both heart and hustle to the team, and we’re lucky to have him helping power our mission forward 💙

💙 Meet the Team Series 💙

Introducing Harrison - Ocean Friendly Business

Meet Harrison, our Ocean Friendly Business Lead and a key player in expanding the impact of Surfrider Maine. 🌊

Harrison works closely with local restaurants and hotels, helping them earn Ocean Friendly status by rethinking and improving how they handle plastic use and waste. Through his work, businesses are able to make meaningful changes that reduce plastic pollution and protect the health of our ocean—one small shift at a time. ♻️🥤

Outside of his work with Surfrider, Harrison embraces everything the coastal lifestyle has to offer. He enjoys spending time with family, exploring nature, and diving into great food and travel experiences. You’ll often find him near (or in!) the water—whether that’s swimming, surfing, or simply soaking in the beauty of the ocean and beaches he’s working hard to protect. 🏄🏼‍♂️🏊🏼🦞🍝🏖️

Harrison brings a thoughtful, solutions-driven approach to sustainability, helping bridge the gap between business and environmental stewardship. We’re grateful to have him leading this important work 💙
