We are huge fans of Shawn here at Homeworthy and The Landing Place! Shawn has helped tons of Homeworthy clients and TLP youth get their first bike and even teaches matiencence and repair to many of the teens who come into The Landing Place. A huge thank you to the team at Knox County Health Clinic for stopping by Homeworthy last week with the Mobile Health & Wellness Van! Clinic staff met with clients to help connect them with medical and dental services, offered flu and COVID vaccines and shared community resources! We’re so grateful that these important services are available to folks who need it most in our region.

We need your help! We are in need of more folks to help support our MOVING operations. Homeworthy moves a lot of items, including furniture for clients, and we can always use more strong hands. Additionally, we are looking for folks with pickup trucks who would be willing to volunteer as transport for bigger items! If you like to lift heavy, consider lifting heavy for your COMMUNITY 💪

We are working with multiple community members at the moment who are getting ready to welcome a baby to the family! Let's help support them in this exciting time :)

The Rockland Emergency Warming Center is looking for volunteers for the upcoming season! Check out the multiple dates available for training. This is a critical service through the winter and is entirely community-run. If you’re interested in volunteering, sign up now!

To mark the start of October’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month, our friends at Patrisha McLean are hosting a screening of a documentary and community discussion at the Strand Theatre next Thursday, October 1 at 5:30.

Tickets to this community event are offered on a pay-what-you-can sliding scale and will support the Strand and Finding Our Voices.

September is National Su***de Prevention Month. A few weeks ago, Homeworthy staff participated in su***de prevention training with NAMI Maine, led by Su***de Prevention Trainer Ian Gould. Case managers, housing navigation staff, van drivers, and members of our HR team took part in the training, building skills to recognize warning signs, respond with care, and connect people with support.

For staff who work closely with individuals and families navigating difficult and often stressful circumstances, training like this is an important part of being prepared to support our community with compassion and confidence. Thank you, NAMI Maine and Ian for sharing this important info with our team!

A huge thanks to United Midcoast Charities for their consistent support of Homeworthy over the years! This past Tuesday, we were awarded a $20,000 grant from UMC alongside some other amazing local organizations. We're so grateful to be part of a community that sees how important this work is. 🩷
