Pride month is packed full of youth programs for everyone! That includes Queerios, our weekly online drop-in program for youth ages 14-18. We meet every Thursday on Zoom. And this month we're going to have not just one guest organization, but two! This Thursday, June 4th, we'll be joined by Yael from Green Tree Yoga for a mindfulness and movement exercise. Then next week, our friends at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art's Virtual Look Inside program will be coming back. Followed by discussions about q***r history and graphic novels to round out Pride Month 2026. There's always space available in our drop-in programs; sign up today! https://app.amilia.com/store/en/outmaine/shop/activities/6717524

Do you want to hang up a rainbow flag, but are unsure if your space and the people in it are currently equipped to support LGBTQIA2S+ youth? Are your business's policies up to date? Is your community space considered "inclusive"? We're offering a training (online and in-person options) for professionals who work with youth in any capacity! "Building Welcoming and Affirming Communities for LGBTQ+ Youth" will provide participants with an overview of terminology, rights, and laws regarding the support and protection of q***r and trans youth. We'll focus on how to create a welcoming and supportive workplace and/or public community setting, and how to back up that "safe space" sticker and rainbow flag with real, tangible actions.

The first session of this training will take place on Wednesday, June 17th in Portland. The online session will be on Tuesday, June 30th. CME/CEU credits will be available by request. Sign up yourself or your group for either session on our website! https://app.amilia.com/store/en/outmaine/shop/programs/121748?subCategoryIds=6865082&subCategoryIds=6865079

Week 1 of Pride Month 2026 is upon us! Here is a list of all the events, programs, parades, and festivals across Maine that our organization will be attending this week. If you see us tabling or marching in your community, please come say hello! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

In the spirit of reaching and connecting with diverse youth in every corner of our state, our friends at the Rural Youth Institute are helping us spread the word about these events. "The Rural Youth Institute is dedicated to enhancing rural youth development by strengthening the leadership and capacity of professionals working with young people." Their works falls under the community capacity building area of OUT Maine's Theory of Change: equipping community members with the tools they need to create welcoming and affirming spaces for LGBTQIA2S+ youth!

What is a "drop-in" program? 🫶 Our two online weekly youth groups, Fruit Loops (ages 9-13) and Queerios (ages 14-18) are both drop-in style programs. That means that youth who sign up for the program are not expected to commit to attending every single week. We encourage folks to "drop-in" to the standard Zoom session whenever they are able to, pressure-free and no questions asked; sometimes that means we see the same faces every week, and sometimes kiddos are only able to return once or twice a month. Any frequency is okay; just know that our staff will be there and ready to meet every week with whoever is able to stop by! Learn more about our drop-in programs and sign up on our website. https://www.outmaine.org/all-events/
