What’s the deal with the Collectors’ Dinner?

Our beloved dinner series began in 2020 with artists Patty Carroll, Alanna Airitam, and chef Jessica Wilson of GRACE. In 2024 we came together again to celebrate the gelatin silver works of Susan Worsham with Sarah Rennie’s Two Fire Table project. This spring, we were joined by Donnie and Dylan of GRISETTE for a dinner to open exhibitions with Natalie Krick and Larry Cook.

Next week, we welcome Bobo Catoe of Lafayette Tavern for the openings of three exhibitions in addition to the publication of Justin James Reed’s book, Reenchantment. Reed and Kyohei Abe will be with us for the dinner, walking us through their exhibitions during cocktail hour before we sit for a coursed meal.

The Collectors’ Dinner series brings food-loving artists, collectors, and community to the dinner table in support of our mission to sustain meaningful photographic work and dialogue. Proceeds from the tickets and sponsorships support our evening’s chef, as well as Candela Photographic Arts’ exhibitions, artist honorariums, and public programming as a 501(c)3. Gatherings like this allow us to continue supporting artists and keep our public programs free and accessible to the community.

The selected images will be printed in-house as a set of twelve 5x7 calendar cards on Hahnemühle Museum Etching paper.

The sets come in a limited edition of 50 plus 12 artist editions. The final day to order your Candelar at the pre-order price is this Saturday, October 31. Orders will be fulfilled beginning mid-November.

*a note - this is a quickly assembled mockup, and the final product will look a bit different (see last year’s set on slide 2)

OPENING NOVEMBER 6:

Candela is thrilled to announce our final exhibitions for 2026, with solo features by Justin James Reed (Justin James Reed), Kyohei Abe (Kyohei Abe), and Donna Soo (Donna Soo), opening Friday, November 6, 2026 from 5-8. Join us Thursday, November 5 for a special preview dinner in the company of two November artists and chef Bobo Catoe Jr. of Lafayette Tavern (Lafayette Tavern).

Candela is also excited to share the release of its latest publication, Reenchantment, with Justin James Reed. The book is projected to arrive just in time for the openings. 💕✨

WE LOVED BINGO! Thank you to everyone who submitted their beautiful photographs, to all of our sweet friends and volunteers for your support, and for all of the enthusiasm that all of you brought to our first attempt at this wacky idea. We honestly can’t wait to do it again and have already cooked up some ways to make it even better.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION: All artists in this exhibition have generously given two editions of their print: one, which is framed on the wall, will be available as a prize in Candela’s inaugural Small Print Bingo fundraising event on October 24. The second edition will be entered into a print exchange with the other artists in the exhibition.

The Candelar is a limited edition set of twelve 5x7 fine art photo calendar cards printed in-house on Hahnemühle Museum Etching paper. Participating artists receive a special artist’s copy of the Candelar and a feature during their month.
