We’re excited to welcome Dr. Trisha Miller Manarin as our keynote speaker for English Getaway 2026!

As the first woman to serve as Executive Director/Minister of the DC Baptist Convention, Trisha brings a passion for connecting churches, strengthening communities, and encouraging others to live out their faith through mission.

Her leadership extends across national and global Baptist life, but at the heart of her ministry is a deep love for the local church.

We look forward to hearing what she will share with us as we gather for Joy Rising at Eagle Eyrie in Lynchburg, November 6–7!

If you joined us at Getaway last year, you may recognize this face!

We’re so excited to welcome Skyler Cumbia back to the mountain, this time as our 2026 English Getaway worship leader!

Last year, Skyler shared her music with us during worship and at the Marketplace & Café, and so many of you fell in love with her beautiful voice and incredible talent. This year, she’s returning to lead us in worship throughout the weekend and share live music in the café once again.

A Delaware-based singer-songwriter and board-certified music therapist, Skyler is known for her heartfelt performances, multi-instrumental artistry, and intimate approach to music.

We can’t wait to worship together with Skyler at Joy Rising, November 6–7 at Eagle Eyrie in Lynchburg.

Hope can look like a bag of rice. A drought-resistant seed. A new church. A community discovering a way forward.

In Kenya, a pastor and local farmers are working together to bring food to villages suffering from drought and famine while helping families learn how to adapt their land to changing conditions. Along the way, they’re encouraging five new churches sharing the love of Christ in their communities.

Through the Alma Hunt Offering, community development ministries are being supported in Guatemala, Kenya, Ghana, Liberia, Romania, and Virginia, addressing practical needs while sharing the hope of Christ.

Prayer Focus: Pray for communities in poverty to find provision, hope, and lasting transformation through Christ.

The Gospel speaks every language and belongs to every culture.

Through HerMission’s Multicultural Ministry, Korean, Latino, Burmese, Chinese, and other congregations across Virginia are supported with resources in their heart languages, opportunities for worship and fellowship, strategic partnerships, and mentorship.

The Alma Hunt Offering helps make this work possible as HerMission partners with congregations to equip leaders, strengthen ministry relationships, and help the church live on mission across cultures.

Prayer Focus: Pray for God’s blessing on multicultural retreats, mentorship, and ministry relationships throughout Virginia.

What begins with one church planter can multiply into communities of disciples living on mission.

Craig Barber once entered V3’s church planter training himself. Today, he pastors Simple Rhythms in Abingdon and coaches new church planters walking that same path.

At Simple Rhythms, discipleship happens through small groups called Huddles, built around communion with God, community with one another, and co-mission in the world. More than 50 Huddles have launched in just a few years, with 42 currently active, including a new group among students at Emory & Henry University.

The Alma Hunt Offering helps support ministries that equip churches and leaders to make disciples and share Christ in their communities.

Prayer Focus: Pray that God would raise up more disciples and church planters through the ministry of Simple Rhythms and V3.

Five languages. Many cultures. One shared faith.

On September 12, Grace Chinese Baptist Church of Richmond was filled with music, movement, prayer, and fellowship during HerMission’s Multicultural Missions Celebration.

Inspired by Galatians 3:28, “All One in Christ” came to life through Scripture shared in Burmese, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, and English, along with cultural dance, worship, choir, and instrumental music.

It was a special privilege to welcome former Executive Director and Treasurer Dr. Valerie Carter Smith as our keynote speaker. Breakout sessions brought together voices from HerMission’s ministries, CrossRoads, the mission field, and national WMU, including Korean WMU Consultant Joy Lee. Together, we also raised funds for the Alma Hunt Offering for Virginia Missions.

The day reflected the vision and leadership of our Multicultural Strategist Esther Shin and her heart for connecting people across cultures.

We are grateful to Grace Chinese Baptist Church of Richmond for welcoming us, to every church and ministry represented, and to the performers, speakers, volunteers, and Multicultural Council members who made the day possible. We also thank BGAV, IMB, and NorthStar Association for their generous support.

A faithful idea can become something much bigger.

Last spring, a group of young moms had a vision to pour into the next generation. With the help of a HerMission mini-grant, that vision became a conference where 50 teenage girls gathered for worship, connection, and spiritual growth. Many made decisions to surrender their lives to Christ and reflect His love in their communities.

Through the Alma Hunt Offering, mini-grants help churches turn ideas into ministry by providing seed funding for outreach, discipleship, and new opportunities to meet the needs of their communities.

Prayer Focus: Pray that mini-grants would equip and empower faithful ideas to reach people and advance God’s mission across Virginia.

Sometimes mission looks like repairing a home. Sometimes it looks like discovering your calling while you do it.

Last summer, youth from 24 churches served across four Virginia communities through Impact! Mission Camps. Together, they completed 24 projects helping homeowners stay safe, warm, and dry.

But the impact went beyond construction. Students built relationships with homeowners, developed leadership skills, and discovered what it means to make mission a way of life.

Your gifts to the Alma Hunt Offering help make opportunities like these possible.

Prayer Focus: Pray that students in Impact Mission Camps would grow in faith, discover their calling, and live out a life of service.
