We’re building this year’s Getaway breakout lineup, and there’s still room for YOU!

Breakout sessions are one of the things that make Getaway so meaningful, and they’re shaped by women willing to share what God has placed on their hearts.

Maybe you have a story of Christ’s joy at work in your life, a Scripture you’d love to explore with others, a creative activity to lead, or a mission or ministry you’re passionate about.

If something came to mind as you read this, we’d love for you to prayerfully consider leading a session at Getaway this November. Know someone who would make a great breakout leader? Send this her way and encourage her to apply!

Breakout leader proposals are due by August 31. Download the application and submit it to [email protected]: https://tinyurl.com/breakout-application

Soccer brought them together, but God was at work far beyond the field.

Our annual Brazilian Soccer Camp brought children and teenagers from across the Roanoke Valley together for three days of soccer, new friendships, and opportunities to hear the hope of the Gospel. We’re grateful for every player, volunteer, church partner, and supporter who helped make these three days possible!

What if you gave yourself permission to get away?

When life feels full and you’re stretched thin, sometimes you need to step away from the noise, slow down, and make space to be renewed.

Getaway is an overnight women’s retreat at Eagle Eyrie in Lynchburg, where you’ll find worship, meaningful breakout sessions, a marketplace and café time, beautiful mountain views, and room to simply breathe.

Come alone or bring a friend. Reconnect with women you know, meet new friends, and make space for what matters.

This year, we’re exploring Joy Rising, rooted in John 15:11.

English Getaway: November 6–7
Multicultural Getaway: November 7–8

Whether you’ve been coming to Getaway for years or this would be your first time, there’s a place for you! Registration is open: https://eagleeyrie.wufoo.com/forms/hermission-getaway-2026

Isaiah 117 House provides a safe, welcoming place where children entering foster care can rest, receive clean clothes and meals, and experience comfort while they wait for a foster family or relative. There are currently five Isaiah 117 Houses in Virginia.

Last month, the 2026 Abigail Girls and several moms served at an Isaiah 117 House, sorting clothing, school supplies, craft items, and books, cleaning, pulling weeds, and painting rocks for the garden.

This year, the Abigail Girls are raising funds to support the startup of an Isaiah 117 House in Roanoke, Virginia. If you’d like to contribute to this mission, contact Rhonda Marstin, our Children’s Mission Strategist, at [email protected].

We’re grateful to see these girls share Christ’s love in practical ways and bring hope to children entering foster care.

We’re grateful to share an update from Ghana, where our team is serving alongside the WMU of Ghana and local churches.

Bethany Hunter and Jeneé Shearin arrived in Accra last week and were warmly welcomed by the WMU of Ghana. Their time there included worship with leaders at the Baptist offices and a meaningful opportunity to meet with the President of the Ghana Baptist Association.

From there, they traveled to Yendi, where they spent a full day on the road and visited a Baptist training center equipping students through both academic and vocational programs, including fashion design and computer programming. While in Yendi, they also met with two WMU groups and partnered with WMU of Ghana in church planting efforts.

We are thankful for the ways God is opening doors for connection, encouragement, and gospel-centered partnership in every place they have visited. The team now looks ahead to the 63rd Ghana WMU Conference in Ejura, which begins this week.

Please continue to pray for health, safety, and strength for Bethany, Jeneé, and all those they are serving alongside in Ghana.

Mom & Me was a weekend full of worship, laughter, and unforgettable core memories made between girls and the moms and special women in their lives. On the mountain, hearts were strengthened through devotions, missions education, and meaningful moments that left a lasting impact.

With this year’s theme, GLOW: Go Light Our World, these girls were encouraged to shine brightly for Christ through both faith and action—raising money to support roof repairs at CrossRoads Camp and collecting needed items for Isaiah 117 House to show love to children in foster care.

Thank you to everyone who poured so selflessly into this weekend. We are so proud of these girls and all God is doing through them. We'll see you next year at Mom & Me 2027!

What an incredible time we had at the 2026 Sisters Who Care Conference! It was a meaningful gathering of African American women coming together for encouragement, connection, and honest conversation about growth and purpose.

We are especially grateful for the way everyone showed up, not only to receive, but to pour into one another and into our community. Together, we collected nonperishable food items for Solomon’s Porch Food Bank, keeping mission at the center of what we do.

Thank you to everyone who participated, served, and helped make this year so impactful. We’re leaving encouraged and looking forward to all that’s ahead.

Shine 2026 brought together an incredible group of teen girls and leaders for a weekend centered on being Anchored in Hope, focusing on the steady hope we have in Christ and how it shapes the way we live and serve.

A highlight of the weekend was partnering with Rise Against Hunger for our mission project, where nearly 15,000 meals were packed for communities around the world. Creating space for hands-on missions continues to be an essential part of Shine, and it was meaningful to see these young women engage with that purpose in such a tangible way.

We are grateful for all who made this weekend possible and pray that each girl left grounded in hope and ready to carry it forward.
