🎉 Exciting news for local families! 🎉

The brand-new playground at Shasta Park is now open and ready for children to explore, play, and make memories.

This new playground is part of the City’s Playground Replacement Project, which is bringing updated play spaces to parks throughout the community. Safe, accessible, and engaging outdoor spaces are so important for supporting healthy youth development, physical activity, and family connection.

The City is also seeking community input through its Parks, Recreation, and Trails Master Plan. This is a great opportunity to share your ideas and help shape the future of parks, recreation programs, and trails in our community.

We look forward to seeing families enjoy this new space! 🌳🛝💙

Located in front of the Branch House Riverfront Cafe, this "Take a Book" library is a wonderful way to share the joy of reading with our community. Whether you're picking up your next great read or leaving a book for someone else to enjoy, it's a simple way to encourage literacy and connection.

Running through July 31, this program is open to all ages:

Calling all Youth Action Council and Peer Court volunteers! 🐢💙

If you’re a teen (ages 13–17) who loves animals, this is a great opportunity to get involved and gain hands-on experience in animal care.

Join the Animal Care Teen Volunteer Info Hour at Turtle Bay on Saturday, June 6 from 3–4 PM to learn about volunteer opportunities with their Animal Care Department.

You’ll hear about what it takes to care for animal ambassadors, the time commitment, and the benefits of joining the team—plus how this experience can build valuable skills for the future.

This is a free info session, but teens must attend with a parent or guardian.

Great resource for families this summer! 🍎🥪

Free meals are available for children ages 18 and under at locations throughout Shasta County this summer, thanks to local schools and community partners. No registration is required, and meals are available at no cost for all eligible children.
