Join us for an empowering outdoor safety class designed to help you feel more confident, capable, and comfortable in nature. Rather than focusing on extreme survival scenarios, this experience emphasizes practical skills and smart decision-making to help you avoid dangerous situations before they happen. You’ll learn essential strategies for staying safe outdoors, what to do when plans go wrong, and how to remain calm and prepared while awaiting help if needed. Come learn how cordage (rope) has been made by humans for thousands of years using natural materials. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll explore how people have worked with plants to create strong, functional tools from the landscape. We’ll cover what cordage is, how to ethically harvest natural fibers, and different processing methods. You’ll have the opportunity to work with materials like yucca and jute, and learn basic twisting and weaving techniques as you create your own net bag to take home. This class is beginner-friendly and designed to be both practical and enjoyable. Learn more: https://www.nordicnorthwest.org/event-details/wilderness-skills-intro-to-cordage
