Our chapter serves the west side of the Portland-Metro area, providing free support groups and education for people living with mood disorders. We provide peer-facilitated support groups for people living with mood disorders. Our mission is to provide community, promote wellness and to learn from one other about our conditions. We believe that involvement in a community of peers is a key component
to achieving and maintaining wellness. Disclaimer
DBSA West Portland and its leadership and members are peers. Any information you may receive from us or at our meetings, in blog posts, in newsletters, on this website or in any other publication or capacity is not medical advice or therapy, and is not to be taken as such. We do share information from our own personal experience because we believe that learning from each other is an important part of learning to live, and even thrive, with our mood disorders. We share information such as lifestyle choices, wellness tools, experiences with our symptoms and experiences with mental health professionals that we believe may help other members. Please consult your psychiatrist, therapist or other mental health provider regarding your own situation. Please also remember that everyone is different and what works or doesn’t work for one person may have a completely different effect on someone else. This is true of everything from wellness tools to medications. Privacy
Your privacy is very important to us. We do not collect information about our members other than what we are given permission to collect. We ask that members only share their first names with the group. We do not discuss other members outside of meetings, or talk about who was at our meetings or what was said. How to Help
