For more than thirty years, HMC has been where our community comes together — to build businesses, open doors for each other, and invest in the next generation of Latino leaders across Oregon and SW Washington.

This week, we are giving that community a home online.

Glue Up is our new member platform where you can connect between gatherings, register for events, and manage your profile to see everything your membership includes.

What’s coming?
• Affinity groups — connect by industry, by region, or by what you are building. Share events, resources, and opportunities with the people closest to your work.
• Member-to-member perks — real discounts and offers our members extend to each other

We are excited to Introduce Shastina Young, Client Development Manager at Xenium HR for our monthly membership spotlight!

Shastina is a Client Development Manager at Xenium HR and works closely with small and mid-sized companies that need high-touch HR & Payroll support, rather than a hotline number and a ticket queue. That’s what Xenium HR does. Every client gets a dedicated team that knows the business and its people. Payroll, benefits, compliance, learning and development, and day-to-day HR guidance from people who pick up the phone and already know who you are.

Fall is the right time to look at that setup. Most HR and payroll contracts renew on January 1, and switching providers at year’s end is far cleaner than switching mid-year. You get one set of W-2s, one clean tax filing, and no year-to-date data migration headaches. Waiting until January usually means waiting another full year.

If your current provider is hard to reach, compliance questions go unanswered, or you’re still doing HR work yourself on nights and weekends, it’s worth having a conversation now while there’s still time to make a change.

With our Hispanic Heritage Gala less than a month away, we are thrilled to announce that this year’s Honorary Speaker will be Diego Chará, Captain and Defensive Midfielder for the Portland Timbers. We’re honored to have him join us for an evening celebrating our heritage and the extraordinary people who continue to shape our region.

Originally from Cali, Colombia, Diego arrived in Portland in 2011 as the Timbers’ first-ever Designated Player. Now in his 16th season with the club, he is a beloved part of the Portland community and has built a long resume of titles and honors. But this evening is about more than what Diego has accomplished on the field.

This summer, we saw once again the incredible power of fútbol to bring communities together. As we come together for Hispanic Heritage Month, we can think of no better person to help us celebrate that same sense of connection, pride, and belonging.

Come see Diego on September 10th at our Hispanic Heritage Gala to learn more about Diego’s journey from Colombia to Portland, the experiences that have shaped him, what it has meant to represent his culture and community, and how perseverance, leadership, and Latino excellence have defined his journey both on and off the field.
