Renewable Northwest Renewable Northwest is a renewable energy advocacy organization focusing on policy and regulatory proceedings in OR, WA, ID and MT.

Founded in 1994, Renewable Northwest has grown to become one of the nation’s most impactful renewable energy advocacy organizations. Our strength comes from our members, a unique and powerful coalition of renewable energy professionals, energy buyers and marketers, ratepayer advocates, and environmental NGOs. Together, these groups contribute their respective talents towards the socially and environmentally responsible advancement of clean energy projects across our region.

As local jurisdictions lead in clean energy transition, it is encouraging to see their sophisticated focus on ensuring their renewable energy commitments result in new renewable energy projects serving their citizens.

While the city and county of Missoula are pushing toward a renewable energy future, they're not interested in NorthWestern Energy's current green tariff program, saying it doesn't bring new renewable energy onto the grid but only circulates what's already available.

In 2018, amidst the summer peak of energy demand, Colstrip 4 was shutdown for emitting too much dangerous pollutants. Who should pay as this aging coal plant continues to breakdown? Can the region really consider it a reliable resource?

In February of the 2018, hazardous air pollutants from Colstrip Power Plant were right at the legal limit.
