Apparel is how fans carry their team into the world, but with the licensed sports merchandise market reaching $40B+ annually and millions of tons of textiles sent to landfills each year, sports organizations have a huge opportunity to shift the status quo.

The sports greening movement continues to reach inspiring new milestones! 🏟️♻️

We are thrilled to celebrate the expansion of r.World's turnkey reuse program with the iconic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum through the 2026 and 2027 USC football seasons!

Now entering its fourth year of onsite reuse, the LA Coliseum has long been a pioneer in venue sustainability–diverting over 1,600 tons of waste since 2015 and reaching an impressive 90.1% diversion rate during the 2025 season.

As Matthew Buswell, Director of Stadium Operations & Sustainability at the LA Coliseum, perfectly put it: "We've spent a decade pushing our diversion rate past 90 percent and, at that point, the next gain won't come from sorting better, but from not creating the waste in the first place. Reuse is how we get there."

Through this expanded partnership with r.World:
• Fans will enjoy beverages in reusable 12-ounce r.Cups, returned to marked yellow bins across the stadium.
• Tens of thousands of single-use cups will be diverted from landfills each season.
• Items will be professionally washed and sanitized at r.World’s local Los Angeles Wash Hub before recirculating back into the venue.

As the Coliseum prepares to host its historic third Olympic Games in 2028, this leadership sets a powerful standard for circular economy models in sports and entertainment venues nationwide.
