This past August 25th, Rose Haven hosted an Under the Sea party 🎉 🪼🦀. Thank you so much to our community care team and Monica for organizing this event. We had a wonderful afternoon of summer celebration, with a photo-booth, coloring, nail art, bag decorating, food, and hola hooping. We love being able to build joy and connection in our shared space 🌟💕. Celebrating our guests is one way we show our appreciation for our community.

The challenges of the summer months, with increased heat and smoke, pose great risk to the health and safety of our guests. We understand that summer looks different for our unhoused population. We aim to provide a day shelter during these difficult moments to meet the physical necessities of our guests, as well as, a community space that recognizes their socio-emotional needs.

We are so proud of the network we have created together, and pledge to continue our work of uplifting and celebrating our Rose Haven guests through every season ☀️🍂❄️🌸.

On behalf of Rose Haven, we want to thank our gracious donors, who supplied families of Rose Haven with hundreds of essential school items 📚📝📎❤️. We would also like to extend our thanks to the wonderful volunteer and staff members, who came together to organize and hand out these supplies⭐️🌹. This drive was a huge success, supplying over 260 children with the gear they need to go back to school. 👏🎊

Having new, quality school supplies, ensures that students have what they need to engage with their academic courses and be successful in their individual learning. Every student deserves these resources, but not every child has access to them.

To everyone who made sure our families were supplied, from the donation of pencils to backpacks, know you made a huge difference.🎓🌟🚍

Rose Haven wants to thank Mankind Project Northwest for volunteering with us this past July 25th.

🌹⭐️These volunteers supported our mission by:

-Cleaning dining room chairs🪑
-Sorting pet food 🐱🐶
-Organizing our basement

Mankind Project Northwest is a nonprofit training and education organization for men. The organization aims to build a community of men who hold themselves and each other accountable to do better in their respective lives. The project hopes to improve society at large by facilitating a support system that instills authenticity, integrity, and compassion in the men.

The organization believes in the importance of giving back to our communities through direct service. 👏💗✨Though we are a non-profit centered on uplifting non-men in our community, we understand the need for men to examine their lives and hold themselves to a higher standard to societally heal. Thank you to the folks who brought their families to volunteer with us, you are making a positive impact.

We rely on our community partnerships to maintain our services here at Rose Haven. To volunteer, you can visit rosehaven.org for more information.

We’d like to invite our community to join us on Saturday, September 19th, from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm, at the Tom McCall Waterfront Park, for the annual AIDS Walk! Our goal is to raise $500.00 for AIDS Walk Northwest to support their goal of $300,000. 👏👏

🌹⭐️Register for the walk or donate today at: https://www.aidswalknorthwest.org/team/rose-haven.

This event is hosted by the .northwest, the largest community based provider of HIV services and education in Oregon and Southwest Washington. For 41 years now, the AIDS Walk has served as a space to strengthen community and support a collective commitment to health, equity and compassion. The walk acts as a way to not only remember those lost to AIDS, but also as a means of raising funds to support critical services and uplift those living with HIV through a united celebration of joy and strength.

To honor the humanity of all individuals, we must stand up for our community members who have fought societal stigma and unjust access to medical treatment. In doing so we ought to honor the legacy of HIV activism that continues on to this day.

By supporting our team in the AIDS Walk, you're helping raise awareness and stand in solidarity with those affected by HIV/AIDS, while strengthening a community where everyone has access to dignity, care, and hope. Every donation makes a meaningful difference. Thank you for walking alongside us and recognizing that we all have a role in responding to HIV. ❤️🎗️

⭐️🌹Rose Haven wants to thank for volunteering with us throughout this past summer.

B’nai B’rith Camp (known as “BB Camp”) is a Jewish Summer Camp based in Oregon that has continually been operating for over 100 years! BB Camp aims to nourish friendships🫂, leadership skills👏, and spiritual growth ❤️ through their programs. One goal of the organization is to empower all generations to come together for collective good. Campers we met with practiced tikkun olam (repairing the world), by helping support our guests here at Rose Haven through volunteerism.

🌟These volunteers supported our mission by:

-Making goodie bags to hand out for our Pride event at Rose Haven. 🌈🛍️

-Making a collaborative bulletin board for guest reflection and community building. 📌✍️

-Sorting and packing essential supplies. 🧻🧼🧴

In addition to these acts of kindness, BB Camp in collaboration with a local Girl Scout Troop, came together to work on the Cozy Companion Project 🐶💕. This project was done in order to uplift guests at Rose Haven, with these young people crafting stuffed animals as an emotional regulation tool. The Girl Scout Troop raised almost 900 dollars through their Silver Project to buy materials to construct these creatures. They worked alongside BB Camp to put them together, wanting to add tools to our community care closet.

These stuffies will be utilized by our advocacy team, having a lasting positive impact on our community. Thank you again to the young people who spent their time with us this summer, you inspire the work we do. 💞💫

We rely on our community partnerships to maintain our services here at Rose Haven. To volunteer, you can visit rosehaven.org for more information.

🌟Community Spotlight🌟

Pictured is one of our new Jesuit Volunteers, Leah! Leah is originally from Oak Park, Illinois, having attended a Jesuit college, she is very passionate about community service and learning from others. Leah was connected with Rose Haven through Jesuit Volunteer Corps Northwest, which offers volunteers the option to choose their place of service from a list of connected sites.

Leah was personally drawn to Rose Haven because of our organizations mission of serving unhoused women and marginalized gender identities. She states, "I wanted to be in a role directly interacting with people and learn more about the social service landscape."

Leah will be serving as a resource associate, working closely with our advocacy team to meet guests needs. Her position will span the course of this next year, during this time, she is hoping to gain real world knowledge on processes that serve our unhoused community and build relationships with our guests. To Leah, service work means, "working together and collaborating with the population you're serving."

We are so excited to spend this next year with this incredible Jesuit Volunteer, to learn more about Jesuit Volunteer Corps Northwest, visit their website at (https://jvcnorthwest.org).
