Your donations fuel SCRAP's Education initiatives! That bag of fabric scraps you dropped off? It becomes a camper's first sewing project. Those donated markers stock a classroom where a teacher didn't have to spend her own money. Every donation to SCRAP turns into hands-on learning and keeps usable material out of the landfill on its way there.

Buttons, bead, yarn, fabric, paper, thread... all the material you're done with is the raw imagination for someone else's first big idea.

Your donations stock SCRAP's education programs: summer camps where youth build, sew, and invent; workshops for teens and adults; and free and low-cost supplies for educators. Across our four sites, donated material moves directly from the donation counter into the hands of a young maker.

Reuse isn't just about what we keep out of the landfill. It's about what we make possible. Donate, and you're funding creativity. Donate like a superstar and you're getting materials into the hands of new makers swiftly and seamlessly!

🎨 Please join us in welcoming Aurora Suryah as the new Site Director of SCRAP B-More!

Aurora is a Baltimore-based transdisciplinary artist whose work centers on earth-based pigments, industrial objects, assembled ritual tools, and natural fibers. Re-engineering diasporic and folkloric traditions to explore art and craft-making as resistance and collective actualization. Drawing on the spirits of their ancestors who believed that roots, rocks, herbs, bones, and psalms held the power to free them, Aurora's work asks and answers a profound question: What does it mean to believe in something, and what are the consequences of it?

That spirit of transformation, resourcefulness, and deep community connection is exactly what makes Aurora such a natural fit to lead SCRAP B-More.

At SCRAP, our mission is to inspire creative reuse and environmentally sustainable behavior by providing educational programs and affordable materials to our community. Aurora's artistry, vision, and belief in the power of making are a beautiful continuation of that work — and we couldn't be more excited to see where they take us next.

That's 2 hours of sorting... sped up so you don't have to sit through it. 🎬✨

But here's the thing, someone still has to do this. Buttons scattered, tags still attached, everything jumbled together takes time to untangle before it can ever hit the sales floor.

When you sort and organize your donation before you drop it off, you're skipping straight to the good part. Faster processing means your donation gets priced, shelved, and into someone's creative project sooner! Less time sorting, more time creating.

There's something so freeing about collage. 🎨 No blank-canvas pressure, no "right" way to do it—just you, a pile of scraps, and endless possibility. A snipped magazine page, a bit of old wrapping paper, a ticket stub you couldn't bear to toss—suddenly they're part of something new.

Collage is creative reuse at its finest: proof that beautiful things come from bits and pieces others might overlook. We're a little in love 💕 with it. Are you?

From the bottom of our hearts: THANK YOU. Our materials donors are the backbone of everything we do. Every material donation that comes through our doors keeps creative supplies out of the landfill and in the hands of artists, students, teachers, and community members who need them. You make the magic happen, and we don't take that for granted.

That's why we created a little something special to celebrate the donors who go above and beyond.

Introducing: Donations Superstars ⭐ For those who shoot for the stars.

How do you become a Donations Superstar? Great question — here's how:

1. Review Our Guidelines & Schedule an Appointment When Needed Before you load up the car, take a moment to review our donation guidelines. Our accepted items list shifts daily — materials we welcomed yesterday may be on hold today while we find room for them. Checking ahead saves you a trip and helps us stay organized on our end.

2. Organize Your Donations This is THE key step. Organized donations move through our intake process faster — which means they get out onto the Creative Reuse Center sales floor faster for artists, students, teachers, and community members to discover. A little sorting on your end goes a long, long way.

3. Clean It, Test It & Label It Does it still work? Give it a wipe-down if it needs one. If you've already tested a bag of pens, let us know! A quick label or note helps our team process your donation without guesswork. Small details make a huge difference.
