We are incredibly grateful to the M&T Bank Charitable Foundation, M&T Bank, and Portland Gear Hub for an amazing community collaboration that provided 35 refurbished bicycles to individuals and families working to rebuild their lives.

For the people we serve at United Recovery Fund, a bicycle can mean so much more than transportation. It can mean independence — a reliable way to get to work, appointments, the grocery store, and other everyday necessities.

That was the average number of rides to work United Recovery Fund provided in 2025. Because getting hired is only part of the equation - you also need a reliable way to get there.

In total, we were able to provide 8,010 rides to work throughout the year — helping jobseekers overcome one of the most common barriers to maintaining employment. 👷‍♂️

United Recovery Fund provides assistance for people in recovery. We empower those recovering from substance use disorder and former incarceration to achieve and maintain meaningful employment, while also cultivating a healing community that helps prevent relapse and recidivism.

Among the jobseekers whose progress URF tracked in 2025:
💰 91% improved their income
💼 84% progressed in employment
🤝 67% became more involved in their community
🏠 64% improved housing stability
❤️ 62% improved family and social relationships
🌱 56% sustained sobriety

Employment is important — but the real goal is a more stable, connected and self-sufficient life.

In 2025, 70% of jobseekers who received comprehensive URF support for more than 60 days retained employment or remained employed at year-end.

That’s what long-term support is all about — helping people not only enter the workforce, but build the stability needed to stay there.
Employment creates more than a paycheck. It creates opportunity, confidence, and a foundation for what comes next.
