All volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes or boots and long pants. Dressing up is encouraged! Your costume needs to work on a boat and a muddy shoreline, so please make sure it doesn't restrict your movement, block your vision, or interfere with wearing a life jacket. Long sleeves and a (witches?) hat are encouraged to protect from poison ivy, ticks, ghosts and sunny weather.

ACW is now tackling illegal dumping in Jefferson Hills!

Our crew began by conducting assessments in the municipality last January to locate illegal dumpsites. Last month, we began the cleanup process of pulling, staging, and removing tires from a wooded area by Old Clairton Road.

After three cleanups at this site so far, we've removed 97 tires and 30 pounds of littered debris. We expect to have one final cleanup at this specific site on October 18 where we'll remove the remaining staged tires and debris. You can volunteer to help us by heading to https://form.jotform.com/262785034012148

Thank you to our 15 volunteers who came out for the Shadyside GrateKeepers litter walk we held with Patagonia last Saturday! 60 pounds may not sound like a lot, but when you consider it was all small light weight material (like cigarette butts and plastic wrappers) and filled up 19 bags it's quite a haul.

Shoutout to Patagonia Pittsburgh for collaborating with us on what has become an annual event, and for donating a hat and backpack for the volunteer raffle!

Our next GrateKeepers litter cleanup will be in Wall, PA on Saturday, Oct. 24. Register now: https://form.jotform.com/262715696258167
