MYTH: You need to wait until you find a grant before getting your nonprofit grant-ready.

FACT: The best time to prepare for funding is BEFORE the opportunity opens.

Grant applications can have short deadlines, and you don’t want to spend that time searching for documents, fixing your budget, updating your board information, or trying to figure out your program numbers.

A grant-ready nonprofit should already have things like:

• An active 501(c)(3) status
• An established board
• A clear mission and programs
• An organizational and program budget
• Measurable goals and outcomes
• Current financial information
• Basic organizational documents ready to go

Finding the grant is only one part of the process. Being READY to apply is what can make the difference.

Nonprofit owners: If a $25,000 grant opened today and was due next week, would your organization be ready?

A board title comes with responsibility! 👏🏾 Your nonprofit needs people who show up, follow through, share their skills, and care about the mission. Connections help, but commitment matters. 💜

What quality do YOU look for in a board member?

💼 One lesson I’ve learned as a business owner: BUSY and PRODUCTIVE are not the same thing.

You can spend an entire day answering emails, fixing small problems, responding to messages, updating your website, creating content, and handling paperwork—and still not move your business forward.

Sometimes you have to ask yourself:

“What did I do today that actually helped my business grow?”

Maybe it was following up with a potential client.
Reviewing your finances.
Updating a process that isn’t working.
Finishing a proposal.
Learning something new.
Or simply saying NO to something that was taking time away from your priorities.

I’m still learning this myself.

Entrepreneurship isn’t about doing everything every single day. It’s about learning which things actually deserve your time.

Business owners: what’s ONE thing you’re working on this week that will actually move your business forward? 👇🏽
