Over the next week, we will be waiting to see if the players who received team offers accept their spots.

‼️ Coaches | Nick Dreyer & Yuri Ushakov

Nick Dreyer |
With over 20 years of coaching experience, Nick Dreyer has established himself as a respected leader and talent developer within the Utah and junior hockey landscape. His commitment to player development, culture building, and competitive success has been a hallmark of his career at both the high school and junior levels.

In 2019, he was recognized as Utah High School Coach of the Year, a testament to his impact on and off the ice. He transitioned into junior hockey leadership roles, serving as General Manager and Coach of the Provo Predators (NCDC) during the 2023–2024 season, where he played a key role in roster construction and organizational development.

He continued to build his reputation with the Ogden Mustangs (NCDC), serving as Associate Head Coach and General Manager from 2024 to 2026. In that role, he contributed to player advancement, team competitiveness, and operational leadership within one of the region’s premier junior programs.

Most recently, he has been named General Manager of the expansion Billings Cattle Punchers (NCDC), where he will lead the organization into its inaugural season, focusing on building a competitive roster and strong organizational foundation.

Yuri Ushakov |
Yuri Ushakov was born and raised in Clifton Park, New York. Yuri grew up playing for the Clifton Park Dynamo ‘AAA program in New York. Playing at the highest level allowed Yuri to experience once in a lifetime opportunities such as.. Brick Invitational, PeeWee Quebec International, and Nationals.. At the age of 15 Yuri was Drafted to the Syracuse Stars ‘NCDC’ and at 16 Yuri was drafted to the Peterborough Petes ‘OHL’.

Yuri now coaches in Park City, going on his fourth season with the Ice Miners. Where he spent the last 3 years coaching the 14A’ team ultimately winning a State Championship and moving multiple players onto the higher level. Yuris goal as a coach is to maximize every players hockey ability, and help them gain confidence to be the best player they can possibly be.

Calvin Asch Coach Bio:

Coach Calvin Grew up in Nevada, British Columbia and Utah. Played Tier 1 and 2 in Utah and is excited to be a part of Utah hockey’s growth. Calvin has a focus on using hockey to shape strong character traits from an early age. He has a robust understanding of what hockey can provide as a young person, young adult and adult, and is dedicated to making sure each player is maximizing that potential on and off the ice. This will be Calvin’s third year with the Program, having Coached u14AA the last two seasons.

Tom Gatta Coach Bio:

Tom grew up in Upstate New York, where he played high school hockey for Niskayuna and was a member of the Capital District Selects and the Adirondack Jr. Hawks. He played college hockey for Castleton in the ECAC East. After college, Tom moved to Park City, where he became a school teacher and coach for the Park City Ice Miners. He began coaching for the Ice Miners in 2008 and has coached all levels from U8 through high school. He is dedicated to teaching and growing the game of hockey. “I coach to build strong skills while developing confident, creative players who think the game through high hockey IQ. My goal is to not only develop strong hockey players, but also responsible, respectful young adults on and off the ice.”

‼️Coaches Profiles:
AJ was born and raised in West Jordan, UT and began playing hockey at four years old and continued to play AA/AAA hockey through the age of 18. Unfortunately, during his College Hockey push AJ suffered career ending injuries and had to step away as a player in the game. After High School, AJ enlisted in the US army and attended Colorado State University. After moving back to Utah, AJ decided to take on coaching to create a strong system for player development and help grow hockey in Utah. AJ recognizes the impact the sport of hockey can have on players’ lives and the great life lessons that come along with it.

AJ started his coaching career as a private power skating and skills coach before accepting a coaching position at Alta High School. After three and a half years at Alta, AJ joined the PC Ice Miners coaching staff and is coming up on his third season as the u14AA head coach.
